Offline | After months of waiting, my Dooper is ready for collection tomorrow ![]() Before you ask, spec is...
It's a bit of a change for me as my current car is a Grande Voyager - you could fit the Mini in the back! Fingers crossed it all goes to plan tomorrow. ![]() Last edited by dthompson : Sep 25th, 2007 at 11:51 AM. Reason: Fix the fonts! |

Offline | Okay, so she's home and I've had chance to drive her over my lunch break!, she needs a name of course, but I'll mull over that for a while. So now for the Good , the Bad and the Ugly ![]() Good first - She's certainly nippy, more than enough pull for me, and combined with fantastically tight / responsive steering, she'll pull away from junctions with consumate ease and a little bit of flair! Suprisingly the sport button makes a lot of difference - took me a bit by suprise that - steering felt a lot tigher still and the gas just made it shift. Road holding / handling is good - you get the feeling that you could throw the car around any corner and it would stay planted to the road. She looks good; interior is nicely put together, no major rattles or creaks. Chrome line interior is well worth it too. Comfort access is fun - walk straight out of the house, into car and off without even touching keys. Seems responsive enough to opening / locking. Standard radio is better than I thought - just tweaked bass / treble, put in MP3 CD no problems. It's more than enough for my old ears. Best of all - It's fun - perhaps that's all in the mind, but I enjoyed it for what it is! Now for the Bad - Well at the moment, nothing too bad at all! The road vibration is a lot more noticable than the Voyager, but that could comfortably run over road humps with little effect! The suspension is very hard for a standard setup, pretty much every lump is transferred to the cabin, but for the moment, I actually quite like that. I'm quite glad I didn't go for sports suspension! The auto stop - start is very good, but felt very conspiquous in the centre of town - I'm sure the passers by thought I'd stalled. Easy enough to turn off / not use (just don't release the clutch), but I'm going to stick with it for a while. It did make me jump though - I'd parked up to read the manual, the car turned itself off so I started reading away and it suddently turned itself on (air con I guess). As for the Ugly - that's just me - the Driver; not even significant surgery could fix that! I'm off out again for another drive after work... |
