Offline | Hello Hi, I too have just bought a Mini Cooper S R53. I pick mine up on Monday. Can anyone tell me what I should expect from it. I took one for a run a few weeks ago and fell in love it (mini - not that particular car). I went on to buy a 2nd hand one a week later. Traded in the SAAB 93. I am so excited: ![]() Steffy |

Offline | Question: Why is a diesel a good thing? I don't mean that in a negative way, but being in the U.S., which is rather "diesel unfriendly", I'm just curious as to why it seems to be an attractive choice everywhere else. Diesels were a big thing in the states from the late '70s to around 1990, but when the fuel jumped from being about 2/3rds the price of petrol to being significantly higher, well, that was the end of it! Emissions played a part also, I believe. |

Offline | VeryRedMCS - New Diesel mini (2008 model) is one of the best for emissions at 104 (manual transmission) and mini quotes 70ish mpg, so very green. Congrats Wind on your new car January is not so far away....really . What spec did you go for? |

Offline | Thanks everyone The reason diesels are so popular in denmark is the fuel prices. I drive 150 kilomters every day, if i will be able to drive 27 kilometer on 1 liter of diesel, it will save me quite a lot of money - the price of 1 liter of diesel in denmark today is 1.4317 USD = 0.6998 GBP the price of 1 liter of 95 octane gas(oline) / petrol is 1.909 USD = 0.933 GBP See the point ? My guess is that about 40% of all cars sold in denmark today are diesels. Furthermore, diesel driving is very comfortable ! My specs on my dooper are Lightning Blue Sports leather steeringwheel - multifunction Works Carbon Interior Board Computer Heated seats White light package Automatic Climate control Radio Boost Rear spoiler Bixenon Last edited by Wind Diesel : Dec 3rd, 2007 at 04:28 PM. |

Offline | @VeryRed: The diesels I have driven have a lot more pulling power within the gears, so it makes day-to-day driving a lot more comfortable, because you don't really need to rev the engine as much. The green point is a very valid one as well, of course - 72 mpg does it for me every day @WinD Petrol as well as diesel is about £1.00 at the moment, so hopefully that makes up a little bit for the fact that you pay about 100% on top of the vehicle in tax... |

Offline | wind, as I understand it from browsing these forums (I am in the process of deciding what I want...) is that the HIFI option is very good, but in your case, you probably get hit by a lot of tax for that pleasure. Look for the threads of NewMinistuff & Mikeythemini and you will find ways to improve the audio in your car for a lot less (special offer on at the moment). Again, I am not speaking from experience, but just from what I have been reading on the posts. |
