Offline | I’ve come across this more and more recently for the nearly new Sorry this is in this section and not general but I feel more at home here with the Cooper D the likely new car. I’ve come across this more and more recently for the nearly new Mini’s like an 07 second hand D for sale. They are being sold with both 15” and 16” wheels. I just take it who ever owned the car had winter wheels? Are more and more people doing this? The cooper D in question comes with 15" 5 Star Spooler Alloys and 16" Bridge Spoke Alloys. I was thinking do you get the 15” standard and free when you order the 16” on a new car? |

| Dooper Driver! | I wouldn't have thought so, usually the price you pay for an upgrade is far less than buying the wheels outright. I went for the Bridge spoke wheels on my Cooper D this cost an extra £80 over the standard wheels that come with the Chili Pack. The Bridge Spokes look very nice by the way, very happy I specced them. |

Offline | I cant argue with Stiggy. Thats one off the most sensible things I've heard recently. I've opted for Bridge on my new car but I had a sniff about on Ebay for a second set of wheels to fit winter tyres to. A set of 15s can be had for very little money. In the end I picked up a set of brand spanking (okay they were taken off at PDI date stamped wk 32 / 2007) S winders with Excellence tyres for £420 - thats cheaper than the tyres alone (which I will definately use in a year or so) so the wheels came free?? I had a look on Realoem to check to factory specs for winter tyres and found them here RealOEM.COM * BMW R56 Cooper WINTERKOMPLETTRAD S-WINDER R102 Winter tyres are excellent things to have and I hear the Mini has pretty good traction so it should be good this year (although I wont have much time on them this year). |

Offline | My salesman, who had worked for BMW/Mini for 20 years gave me this advice 15" give the best fuel economy 16" give the best ride 17" look the best, with the firmest ride, and least fuel economy My logic made me select 16" - didn't like the look of any15", couldn't afford 17" .Thus getting, allegedly the best ride (I guess everyone has their own opinion), reasonable fuel economy (how much do they affect your real mpg?), and the best looking 16" ![]() |

Offline | Decent winter tyres in non runflat (I hardly think I'll need runflats when I've got a can of goo in the boot and 4 spares at home) are £74 ea compared to £124 for runflats.....hmm let me think... |

Offline | That Tyre Weld is some of the worst stuff you can use, because it get everywhere when you change the tyres etc, and I know this because my dad is a tyre fitter (self employed). ![]() The Orange Blob As My Avatar Is The Mascot Of JetAlliance Racing Called 'Carli'. |

Offline | I cant argue with you there! I've never had to use it so far (my other car comes with non run flats and a can of goo) but if I save £200??? I'll buy your dad a new pair of gloves and take him out for lunch! |

Offline | Cant be much in it with the fuel economy I’d imagine from the 15” to the 16” ![]() I must emit some of the 15” look poor I don’t know if it just looks too small a wheel. I’d put up with 15” over winter to keep the 16” or 17” in good condition ready for summer. |
