It has arrived

It does all the stuff I was hoping for. pictures will follow soon (too dark at the moment). I took the route home where I knew there'd be heavy traffic, but of course that was completely clear this afternoon. So the dooper is already proving to be better than the previous car (that got stuck in queues all the time)

It drives and works better than I expected it to and that is quite some going, because I feel that I know a fair bit of what it is supposed to do (thanks to reading here a lot...)

A few niggles, though:

- The audio sounds unimpressive so far. I was expecting fuller sound from the HIFI option, so I will be playing around with the settings at the weekend
- The iPod connector does not work for my iPod classic. I do not know whether that is due to the connector not being installed properly or whether it is due to the version of iPod
- The SatNav lady does not speak up and when I do hear her, she is in a very weird accent

A few not-so-niggles:

- The auto start-stop is perfect!! I did get confused a couple of times when the car started all by itself, but it really works very well
- I did not know how much I missed my cruise control and dimming mirror n my previous car - now I've got them back!!
- The Sport button does a lot more than I expected - you can really feel it in the steering wheel (don't know how much use I will be making, though)
- I swapped the keys at some point during the day and it took me a while to realise that that was why the radio station was different.

I apologise to anyone who had to drive behind me when I was trying to figure all of this out. I promise to read the manual tonight.

I have had a close listen to the sounds and it seems that voices and interviews on the radio sound different from music. My Audi A3 was a lot fuller. Having said that - I have now played a couple of CDs and those sound a lot better.

It looks like the iPod connector is not recognisd by the unit. It must have something to do with the way it is programmed.

Congrats and looking forward to the pics

The auto stop/start takes a little getting used. I don't even think about it now.

apologies for the pictures - it has been raining all day and as soon as the water level drops enough to see the car again, I'll rush out with camera...

Some pictures. Had a great drive today and managed to get the average consumption to 53 mpg - just another 20 to go...

I have tried the Sport button now and it seems to make steering a bit easier on long straights (because it is heavier to turn the wheel, it is easier to hold when on Cruise Control). Still not sure whether it is worth the added effort, but then again, my whole driving is aimed at using as little fuel as possible (£1.09 at the moment)

I am also still running in, so the first 3500 miles, I am not doing more than 1000 revs (or was that the other way round? )

I am calling the satnav lady "Hillary" for the moment (because I don't know what to make of her), but will settle for a better name if there are any suggestions...

I learned this week that the iPod connector was not connected because they could not program it because there is a new version coming out in March.

It was not clear why they never pointed this out to me before or what I am to do in the mean time...

I have also started hearing a rattle in the gearbox area - can't find it mentioned in the forums, so I'll see if I can get someone to listen to it.

For the rest I am really, really enjoying my car - it is just great!
