Smile Dooper on its way.....

A few months ago I sold my 1 series. I had 2 bmws over a period of 2 years, but needed to brand up a car for my company and have a car i'd be happy someone else driving.

So since November I was looking at a smaller car and was intending to order a Cooper S. I was just a few days from ordering - but due to a number of reasons I couldnt order the car. Ive been busing it and getting lifts for around 8 weeks, and not have a car is quite isolating.

So Monday I went bananas, was about to purchase a Twingo (as the company runabout), needed a car desperately (yes I was about to buy Renault). I called round a few contacts to see how much / how long a Cooper D Clubman / Hatch would take to get to me. I drove the Twingo and the Mini back to back and knew the Mini was worth the 50% extra, felt like the BMW but smaller.

Sooo what happened was one of my contacts emailled me on Tuesday, he found me a brand new Cooper D - with a 7 day delivery -

Spec as I know it -
MINI COOPER DIESEL HATCHBACK 1.6 D 3dr [Chili Pack]
Cloth/Ray leather - Carbon black, Metallic - Astro black, White indicator lights, Piano black interior trim, Tinted rear windows, Visibility pack - MINI, Chrome line interior, Heated windscreen washer jets, Multifunction steering wheel inc cruise control,

I havent seen the car - and I dont know the complete spec. Chances are I get it this Monday / Tuesday! Its going to be a bit of pot luck and never done this before - buying a car without seeing it and without knowing what the complete spec is.

I'm hoping the car comes with bluetooth (unlikely), Astro wheels (or better Flame or Web also acceptable).

Wish me luck. Will post photos as soon as I get it!

Sounds like a good spec. And those Doopers have a good reputation

Nothing wrong with the spec on that one - 7 days is fairly quick for delivery!

Hi guys, expecting the car last Monday l was a bit hopeful - it had to go through a cherised transfer - was getting my plate put on the dooper. Got a call during lunch on Friday - and then got the car at around 4 pm friday!

So its black with white roof / mirror caps, chili pack, has 17' crown spokes, clear indicator lights, tinted rear windows, multifunction steering wheel, visibility pack, heated mirrors / washers, black gloss interior, cruise control and i'm sure its got some other stuff i havent discovered yet

I still have to take some photos, but i'm soo busy at the min - and all I have to hand is my craptastic Nokia e90 phone camera (actually the phones great - cameras crap in the dark).

I hadnt driven a Cooper D hatch - had tried the clubman. So far so good - havent had much time to enjoy - just done the first 70 miles driving round with friend (not naked ). Then today havent touched it as I had to put wooden floor down in my office . Was there all day.

Absolutely shattered.

Have to say its a nice car - very balanced and comfortable to drive, however how to I tilt the drivers seat? I quite like the start stop function. I've been taking it easy - havent pushed the car too hard, cant wait till its broken in, roll on 1250 miles.... should have that done in about 2 weeks.... (ps supa love your motor).

Im not sure how the tilt works in the R56 In my ONE there is a lever on the inside of the seat

It is a fantastic car to drive! Ive driven 3 Doopers in total now The first test drive last Sept, then the Clubman, then the one I borrowed for 24hrs, I started mine the other day but couldnt drive it

fab, looks great - I take it you are chuffed then

to tilt the seat, theres a little lever at the top corner, just on the back - just pull it and it will tilt (if that makes sense )
