| MINI2 Regular | A picture of my Cooper D and a question about oil... ![]() Here's a picture of my MINI. I bought it at the end of December and absolutely love it. One thing though... I've done nearly 6000 miles since I bought it and have been worried lately that I haven't checked the oil manually. The computer says it's fine but I tought I should check it anyway. It hasn't used a drop by the looks of things in all that time. I'm not complaining lol but wanted to make sure this is normal? My last diesel liked to drink oil so I don't know whether to be impressed or worried about the MINI not using any ![]() Last edited by MINIAC : May 10th, 2008 at 09:19 PM. | Dodgey, er, dodgem driver | Lovely Cooper D Don't see many R56's with Bridge Spokes - Not seen this combo before and its lovely!! On the oil front, I wouldn't worry - Our Sorento diesel did 35k odd miles under our 3 years of ownership and it hardly used any at all. Still totally healthy when it left our possession ![]() |

Online | I've noticed the same with my Cooper D. Its at about 3600 now and from regular checking it doesn't seem to have used much oil at all! Good to know its not just mine! 2007 Pepper White/Black - MINI Cooper D ![]() Complete with Go Faster 'Bonnet' Stripes! |

Offline | I've done 9.5k miles in mine and has hardly used anything. Be warned though - it is your responsibility to make sure that engine oil is kept within the limits. If you let it run out, then that is not a warranty issue, and attempting to claim that it is, is fraud. And BMW will not tolerate fraudulent claims. |

Offline | My Dooper had an engine problem just before 5500 miles. The oil level was one of the things the BMW technician checked, and it was fine. Heard a story from a Citroen salesman of a diesel engine that was not serviced for 250,000 miles, and had never had any replacement oil. Bridge wheels on my Dooper too ![]() |

Offline | Is there not a statement in the manual that says you should not put any oil in until the warning light comes on? I remember reading this, and thought it was strange. My petrol looks like it will need some top up oil soon, I check mine regularly just to be on the safe side. Red/Black R56 Cooper |
