Picked mine up yesterday and the average mpg on my 145 mile trip back which included very bad traffic on the M25 was 61.2mpg - pretty impressive for a new car. On the early traffic free sections of the drive on country roads I was initially averaging 71mpg but that fell back as traffic was encountered.

I have a pre stop/start Dooper which has now done just over 17000 miles. It's running on 15" alloys. Up to the first service I must have been averaging about 61mpg over a 60/40 motorway/city driving split. Since the service that figure seems to have went up somewhat. Over the last 2500 miles the average is 65.2mpg. That's with some very spirited driving at times as well. Saying that I can also be a right boring fart behind the wheel at times .Got to say I'm more than happy with the figures and general running costs. I was actually looking forward to getting my £35 road tax reminder in a perverse sort of way .

Just over 1300 on the clock and getting 58mpg on average. ![]() ![]() Really happy with this as it can only improve as the engine get a few more miles Mostly motorway driving with cruise control on.Will report back once its got a few more miles on the clock ![]() Kimmy

Apologies if anyone has already stated or reported this... but i get the impression that most people here are posting the average mpg values reported from their car's trip computer right? I've been testing my dooper (Nov 07) for a while now and so far i've done about 13000 (a lot i know... i work v. far and by the end of my 3rd year of owernership, my car would have done about 120,000 )... Anyway, I drive very very sensibly to a point where i brake very little as i try to anticipate red lights, build up of queues etc etc (by the way, it's mainly motorway driving). My average speed is about 68.My trip computer tells me i'm getting on average 72.9 mpg. Pretty amazing right? Not really. It's completely wrong and full of dog poo. I've calculated my real average mpg to be about 58-59mpg... not bad but no where near the stated figure by my own trip computer. Maybe it's something i'm doing 'wrong' (ie. being able to coast a lot by my conservative driving style may screw up the computer trip etc) I'd recommend that all of you to calculate the figures by yourselves and not rely on the computer trip... it's very misleading. For me it's a little annoying as the reason why i shelled out so much money for this car was because of the stated mpg values... i wasn't expecting reaching the official figures but i thought that i would at least get in to the mid 60s. Compared to my previous car (Renault Diesel), it's matched it in terms of economy...but it's a lot more powerful with more pulling power... though i wonder if i could have achieved the same figures with a remap... who knows. anyway, going to stop my rant... still love my MINI though

With regards the average Mpg of the Dooper and the trip computer, I just go by the miles per tank. I can get 550 if I take it easy (Up from 500-520 until the first service - change of oil, change to the ecu settings from the dealer maybe affecting it?). For a 40 litre tank that is amazing, for a 50 litre tank that would be about 690, for 55 litres as for say a focus diesel, Golf Tdi? it would mean 756 miles per tank!! So on reflection we should be comparing miles per tank, as all trip computers 'probably over-state

I used my wife's Cooper D for work all last week. Averaged 53MPG, the drive to work is mainly country lanes so lots of braking and accelerating for bends. her Mini Cooper Convertible that we had previously used to do about 36MPG on the same run so thats a nearly 50% improvement. My diesel Jag whcih I normally use for work does about 40MPG on the same run if I don't use the air con and about 35MPG if I do. With the price of diesel I've started opening the windows rather than turning on the aircon! However the Mini Cooper D doesn't seem so susceptible to the air con.

you serious? what was the remaining fuel figure on your trip computer? I reckon i could get that figure if i chanced the debatable fact that although your trip computer reads ------ mls ...it does in fact have about c3/4 litres of fuel left... Still, if true that's pretty amazing for a 40 litre tank!!!

I have, but at very slow speeds it should of course be better to open windows (not really something I do unless I am in a queue (otherwise, the engine starts running again too soon...))
