Scotland I'm waiting...

....for my first MINI and it's gonna be a while

Hi folks!

Been looking in on the site for a while and thought i'd sign up!
Ordered my CooperD a couple of weeks ago now. Delivery not until June

Needed a economic car as im currently doing 20k+ miles a year in a 3litre petrol.
After much deliberation the CooperD was my choice.

Took a bit of haggling to get a deal deal in the end but must say Phenoix in Kirkcaldy have been pretty good to date. I'm going for my money's worth in free coffee

As im buying car on a PCP there was no point in going overboard on spec. these things turn out bloody dear anyways dont they?

Spec

R56 Cooper D Hatch
Pepper White
Chilli Pack
Bonnet Stripes
Piano Black
White Lenses
17" Flame Spokes

TBH i'm looking forward to it but have mixed feelings as i love my current year (BMW 330Ci) but it's killing me given miles i do

Roll on June

Nice spec - I do a similar mileage to you and don't regret buying mine at all. If you value comfort you may find the 16" wheels give a better ride over the 17" - I did and went with the 16's.

I'm too much of a tart for 16's John. I'll live with the hard ride

Sounds nice The "essential" option, as regards re-sale value, is probably the Chili Pack and you've speced that so no probs

Good to know I'm looking at the silver D they have there but they would have to meet me on both the price and the trade in, although I’ve came to realisation that my Car is worth only around 1K at the BMW dealership.

Hope the car works out!
You didn’t by chance see the silver d there?

And if its not to much who was it you were dealing with sales staff wise.

I test drove that car (don't worry i did'nt rip it). Nice spec (£18k worth new he said) with auto aircon and crown spokes but silver just doesnt do it for me and PCP quote was'nt much better.
Dealt with young guy called Struan.

Re straight figures i got quoted on that car about a month ago were price £16.5k plus £200 over-allowance on my trade-in over what their trade buyer was standing it in at

Yeah been closely looking Holmes of Stockport Have an 08 better Spec’d car a month newer for the same money.

I’ve really got a set budget and it’s the Trade in plus 15K with no movement on it. Fairbairns are keeping any eye out for me and dropped £400 on a Silver D but it was really low spec and did not have the wheels, Black roof and mirrors etc I like but it was split new 08 and all for 15K plus my trade in.

If I could get this for 15K plus trade I’d be walking out the door with it……

Thats the very car.
It turned 2k miles on my test drive so has'nt been used alot. Would'nt expect any more than 3k on it now, probably less.
What are you p/x ing? I reckon with a bit of haggling you could get that deal

Theres a girl in the MINI sales also. Cant remember her name but worth a bone imo

It’s a very tidy 99 T plate Honda Civic, its been the second car for the last eight years from nearly new, only done 66K. new exhaust and timing belt done as I had to go down south last year and needed it spot on.

Every dealer just thinks you can magic up extra Money, it’s a set budget and as I said there expensive for what is a small car to begin with. Dealer has to come to me rather than me add more money

BMW Irvine offered me £800.
Honda offered me £1400 on a new Civic.
Secondry plan is drop the D and go to the normal Cooper with the price drop that comes with that.

So as it stands if they offerd the same as Irvine there is a short fall off £700. Although Irvine did drop the price by £400 and offer TLC. Final deal came down to £15200 Plus trade-in but as I said the car just did not hit the spot, and there is no point spending 16K on a car I can certainly say is new but not close to the one I like.

Seemingly dealers don’t get the whole personal taste thing…Secondry plan is drop the D and go to the normal Cooper with the price drop that comes with that. …

Stick a new MOT on the Honda if you've got under 8-9months left and stick it in the Autotrader for £1400ono. Will sell for more than a bag in a few weeks. I totally agree re personal taste thing. £1200's worth imo.

£800 is what a trader will offer blind. The go through auction at that kind of dough (dad in law works @ Kinross).

If you don't cover the miles though petrol cooper @ £1100 less is way to go imo.

Harry Fairbairn is now owned by Arnold Clark, although they are trying to keep it quiet. You may have noticed their forecourts are jam packed and they have reduced price stickers everywhere. Looks like the car lot from Eastenders.

Try Parks in Glasgow or Hamilton and see if you can get a better deal. Maybe Ebay might be worth a go for selling your existing car? It tends to do well for older, cheaper cars.

Do you really think it is essential though? Im looking at the D at the minute with full bluetooth(includes a multi-function sports steering wheel). Im thinking I really want the JCW recaro seats and wheels. Is there any point in a CHILI pack then?

BTW Im sure you will love your D when it arrives. Its a fantastic engine. Buckets of torque. I love it and cant wait to order my own now!
