Unhappy New Dooper Problems in 12 hours

Hi All

Sorry my first post is a problem

Picked up a new cooper D yesterday and on the way to work this morning the Yellow Brake warning light appeared

Called the garage and was told it was probably Tyre pressures i said i don't think so , as the warning for tyres looks like a tyre

Anyway took it into the garage and after a hour was told it's a known fault with the brake flud sensor. I then said well the manual says its related to hill start asist, and a red light relates to brake fluid

They assure me that diagnostics says brake fluid level sensor, and the earliest they can fix it is 22 may.

Am i going mad or is our new car or dealer misleading me. Have any of you guys/girls had this problem

What should i do ?

Fergy

What reason did they give for not being able to fix it until May 22nd? Replacement part availability?

reason for the 22nd is that i need a replacement car for the time it's in the garage

Have you heard of the problem ?

That’s beyond belief, you give them the business of a new car.

The correct response should have been something like-

“ Sorry we will fix it as soon as possible here is a replacement car right now for you to use!”

How hard can it be there a Car garage for god’s sake to find you a runabout, try the cars the staff are running about in. I know I turned away a few weeks back when I went to look at a cooper and seen the very car spin out of the forecourt at speed only for it to spin back after about five minutes, oh and the crap left on the back seat helped its case.

Disgraceful!

Go up the chain of command in the dealer imo till they meet your demand of replacment car.

Name and shame the dealer - that is disgraceful and unacceptable conduct. No wonder MINI dealers did poorly in a recent survey.

Actually!
...come to think of it we had this fault shortly after taking delivery of our Dooper almost a year ago!
And yes it was a faulty reservoir sensor(cap) and yes they were on back order that time!
Our car had to go in for another issue shortly after this and was repaired then (i think they swapped the cap off another car!)

I am shocked that they let you drive at all with the brakes not working

I know it is probably ok, but if the brakes do fail, the warning light is not going to warn you anymore...

Exactly - I'd be explaining this in no uncertain terms to the DP

It's Fixed

Well after speaking to BMW UK, the dealer suddenly found the part and a Clubman to lend us

It seems the person who dealt with the original call and visit has been spoken to by their
dealer principle.

They have assured us that this is not their normal service level and agreed that the car
should have been taken off the road there and then.

will post some pics soon

but we are happy now

'tis amazing that as soon as MINI UK are involved the car is immediatly taken off the road and not allowed back on road until a fix is found I had exactly the same, I think if they hadnt of been involved i'd have been given the car back by the dealer telling me there were no faults!

Look forward to seeing pics
