Just had a Dooper service loan vehicle and I was pleasantly surprised with it. Is it wrong that I kinda like the lag and the big smack in the back when the turbo spools up? Alot of fun! Maybe its because I wasnt expecting much in the first place but I quite liked it ! And thats going from my JCW to the dooper - not nearly as fast but a very pleasant surprise

Running 211whp

The secret is to short shift and keep the turbo on boost. Then it flys

change gear at about 2300rpm (just over the 2000rpm mark but not over 2500rpm) this keeps the engine with in the power band. try it and tell me what you think

Peak torque of 240Nm is at 1750rpm unless you boot it then you get overboost and peak torque of 260Nm is at 2000rpm!!!

I'm just waiting to finalise my order on a new R57 Cabrio, and am just about convinced that the Cabrio Cooper D would be the right machine for me.

However, a little bird tells me the the diesel Cabrio will NOT be avaialble at launch, and may even be launched only in 2010!

If this is indeed the case, then I will be one VERY unhappy teddy-bear

Also, rumours that maybe MINI will be swapping to a different diesel motor in 2010 - anyone else know more?

Ian

Not here much any more
