5 reasons to get a Cooper D?

Ok - am pondering whether to go for a Cooper D, can anyone give me some good reasons to take the plunge.
I am commuting 190 per day and thought the MPG would be beneficial..

Well, as a fellow Cooper D driver, I'd say:

1. Fuel economy - but DON'T expect to get near the official figures, I get 63mpg combined in mine (but about 75 on motorways) but with standard 15" wheels you may get more (I'm on 17" crown spokes)

2. Cheaper road tax - just £35 for a whole year.

3. Even with high mileage you'll get a better residual because Cooper D's aren't made in the volume of petrol models.

4. Masses of torque so it accelerates from standstill like a Cooper S.

5. Fantastic car - such fun to drive.

Do you need any more reasons!?

Mmmm..5 reasons

1. Good economy mid 60's mpg unless you drive like nutter.
2. Good handling
3. You will love it
4. you don't need anymore reasons

I'd say stick to smaller wheels and and it would be ideal for you. Agree with the two bods views above.

My real life mpg over a year and 22k miles is 56mpg.

With reference to the comments made re 'wheel size', I spoke to a few people at 'Mini United' that had changed their wheels from the 15" to 17" and they noticed a 3-4mpg drop due to the increased rolling resistance. So I am sticking with 15" for now.

TBH i was more referring to ride quality especially on run flats when doing loadsa miles.

16" on normal tyres would be decent compromise though

Are you going new or used?

I'm looking at possibility of moving mines on early (i need something bigger) if your interested at trade money (glasses excellent - PM if you want to know the figure). spec Pepper White ,Chilli, Flames, Black Bonnet Stripes, Piano Black interior, White Lenses, TLC. Be one year old on 29/5 - already bought the tax as well!

I have been trying to convince my hubbie to get a cooper clubman for some time now!
We test drove one today and he's totally smitten!
Have seen a beauty in Hot Choc with matching lounge leather in a dealership about 50 odd miles away and he's all for going down there tomorrow to take a look!

It is lovely but now I'm getting nervous about spending £15000 on a new car and also really surprised that he wants one in Hot choc and not in conservative silver!

You won't regret it - even at £15k it'll be worth it. You'll have bags of fun and it'll keep its residual for when you want a newer one!

I phoned the dealership this morning and hope to go down to look at it mid week. Just worried that someone else will get to it before us!
They also have one with decent spec in sparkling silver with choc lounge leather but not so sure on that one!
Anyone had any experience with making an offer for a Mini at any Mini dealerships?
When I bought mine last November I only managed to squeeze a tank of fuel out of them!
Also anyone know how much a set of roof rails and a top box costs and the best place to get from please?

4. One wheel in each corner makes it a nimble drivers car

Only downside is, that we both bang our heads regulary in the roof and must drive with a crooked neck because of our height. We are both 1.90 meters tall. So a large camel to swallow, but still love the car.
