Anyone fitted aftermarket air filter

Has anyone fitted an aftermarket airfilter to a new Cooper D? Am looking at a K and N 'drop in' panel filter which costs about £45. Have done the same on our other car (3 year old diesel Merc A class) and it is noticeably smoother on pick up and MPG goes up from 52 to 54. Any views / experience on the K and N filter in terms of performance / MPG improvement?

almost sounds like you answered own question, but thats coming from a previously non diesel owner :-/

I was thinking of the same thing as done it on all my previous cars (petrol)

looking forward to seeing if anyone posts up saying yeah, its a good thing...

I did exactly the same thing after reading a lot of forums telling me that installing an after market air filter will give me better millage and power, and it did. Please give us an update if yours will work okay.

I would like to add the air filter but how would this be viewed by Mini/Dealer as my car is still under warranty?

I did it but haven't really noticed a change.
Could be me, since the day after it got a modified motor management as well..

Did you fit the K&N and if so did you notice any difference?

If you have TLC and want to fit a K&N read the TLC terms and conditions...

It states "Any form of tuning or performance enhancement that is not Mini approved invalidates the Mini TLC agreement"

just be careful that you don't get the 'oil' on the MAF or you will stir up all sorts of trouble!!!
