Bizarre Reading Light Problem

Anyone else had this? Lock the car as normal and wait until the LED alarm is pulsing normally (I just left mine overnight). Unlock the car as you normally would but don't open the driver or passenger doors. Open the tailgate and hey presto, the two front reading lights come on. Weird or what?
Have now noticed that the button for opening the hatch only doesn't work.
Some re-programming of the keys is called for.

Yeah ive had a similar problem. Im not sure if its the norm but seems pretty poor as it could drain the battery.

If i leave the car for a few hours and try to open the boot with the remote before unlocking the reading lights come on and i have to manually switch them off. I'd be interested to know if its a setting or if its a wider problem.
