Update: Missing engine underbody panel Update: So I spotted another Clubman D and had a peek underneath. Sure enough, it has the underbody panelling and mine is completely missing. What I don't understand is how a (presumably qualified) mechanic at an authorized dealership can forget to reinstall a large part like this? I am completely baffled. Worse is that when I called the garage and asked them if they had my panelling and why they didn't put it back they couldn't (or wouldn't) confirm anything. After some back and forth they told me they would see if they had any "spare" or salvaged panels and would put one on. Don't get me wrong, these are great little cars but seeming indifference and incompetence like this (through an authorized dealer, no less) is hard to ignore and spoils the entire experience. It's getting to the point where I can't even stand looking at this car anymore because it just reminds me of constant hassle and frustration. Sigh. ------------------------------------------- Can anyone with a 2009 Clubman D tell me if they have a skid plate underneath their engine compartment? In other words, if you look underneath the car is there a protective plate covering the oil pan, underside of the transmission, bottom of the catalytic converter, etc...? I would like responses from people who haven't modified their car. I am interested if such a plate is there on the stock models. Thanks. Last edited by MiniDeLux; Feb 6th, 2012 at 05:44 AM.

Ah, this is what I mean. So there is something there like a floor on the bottom of the engine, right? If you were to have the car on a hoist, you would have a protective panel that makes it so you can't see the bottom of the engine, correct? This panel basically hides the oilpan, bottom of the catalytic converter and clutch bell housing, yes? Like the entire engine bay has a floor to it, so if you were to open the hood and look down, you wouldn't see the ground, you'd see the plastic cover/floorpan? Would it be possible for you to snap a photo of the underside of the engine bay and post it? I think this plate is roughly the width of the car wide and runs from the underside of the bumper to the back of the engine bay, right? The reason I ask is because mine seems to be completely absent.

Yes it is because the garage has been ripping me off for quite some time. They have charged me for unchanged air filters, overfilled my oil, broken all the attachment clips on my air intake and now it would appear they have failed to reassemble the car properly after another service. I am trying to verify whether or not this is indeed the case. If you don't like it, move on.

Thanks! I think this is the part. Mine is completely missing and I'm puzzled why they wouldn't put it back. Now I have to recontact them. I thought I was going crazy, but I distinctly recalled that there was a protective panel under the car.
