England 2010 Mini Cooper diesel problems with nozzle when filling up

im having problems when filling up my car, the nozzle only slightly fits in, so therefore it takes ages to fill up and clicks whilst I'm doing this, any idea why this could be happening?

I have the same problem with mine. The only way I can fill up easily is to have to nozzle barely in the neck of the filler and at an angle and dont squeeze the trigger too hard.

A few years ago before I got my MINI I was at a filling station and there was a woman there complaining that there was a problem with the pump but the guy said that it wasn't the pump, they always have problems with MINI's.

I have always had this problem. With my Cooper D I put the diesel nozzle all the way in and turn the nozzle at least 45 degrees towards the front. Works for me and none of those annoying clicks! Hope this helps.

Ditto to the above, except I turn the nozzle 180 degrees until it's standing vertically up (so it's no effort to keep it there) and it fills without problem. Both Minis I've had were the same.

Petrol pump nozzles!

I had problems getting the unleaded pump nozzles to actually fit into my tank filler at a BP pump on the M4 Reading services. I actually moved the car to a diffrent pump but had the same problem there and only managed to squirt about 1 of fuel in before the pump clicked off.

When I went into the shop (feeling rather stupid) the assistant said they were always having problems with Minis and other BMW's. Turns out the nozzles on their pumps are made from alluminium and are quite soft. So as the nozzles get slammed in and out of the fillers, the end of the metal pipe gets turned back on itself and actually makes the nozzles bigger......and then they don't fit into the Mini/BMW filler hole!

The assistant actually came out to my car and showed me the problem on the last filler nozzle I had tried to use. Then she suggested moving the car to yet another pump (which I think had new nozzles) and actually filled my car for me!

Now I try and avoid BP petrol stations in general!
