DPF Replacement - Service Procedure ...

Hello all

I need to remove the DPF canister for cleaning - please, no advice around forced regen, I have tried that !

There is very little room to extract the DPF/Cat canister, and the central shield bolts are a nightmare to get at.

The front of the shield is retained by the upper diff pressure sensor and the temp sensor - if I remove these can I then wrestle the front of the shield off ?

What is the simplest procedure for removing the DPF canister for cleaning ?

Can anyone help with relevant pages from the factory service manual, or a link to show how this is done, please ?

All useful advice is most welcome.

Regards

Chopps

Procedure on a Peugeot is here:

DPF Removal and Clean Guide - Peugeot Forums

No need to remove the front of the car as can do it on a Pug which has less space than the Mini.

Have you actually done this job ?

The Peugeot instructions are basically correct, but you cannot remove the top clamp from the turbo to the cat because the bolt head is hidden behind the shroud - the turbo/cat is pre-assembled and fitted to the engine before installation in the Cooper D

The Peugeot article is written around the 307, there is not enough room in the Cooper D to follow the posted instructions.

The diff pressure bolts are 18mm, not 17 mm.

Is there anyone who has actually done this, and not read an article on a Peugeot forum ?

Again, can anyone help with pages from the Mini workshop manual, please

Haven't done it myself, no. The turbo/cat assembly is not pre-assembled as far as I know. I've had the turbo on my Clubman changed and the garage didn't remove the front of the car, they removed it in situ and unbolted it from the DPF/cat.

Normally the bolt faces forward so it can be accessed. Doesn't help you, I know but it's strange the way it's been installed on yours.
