Offline | Fuel consumption for a Cooper S Would some of you S drivers give me an ideal what MPG you get with mixed running, half town and long runs. Used to own a One D and loved it to bits but have become single again and would love an S. I would be doing quite a bit of mileage so would be interested to hear what you have to say. Many thanks |

Offline | My S is now just over a month old with 1600 miles under its wheels. I'm getting on average 28mpg. That is over a mixed bag of town/suburban/country/motorway driving. Much better than my old Audi Cabrio which does 21mpg. Another thing is it doesn't seem to matter if I drive my S fast or slow - it returns the same mpg. So you know what that means!!!! |

Offline | Mcs Usa Mpg Hey there, I have the USA spec MCS - I get about 25-27 mpg in town and about 31-33 mpg on the high-way ( US Gallons ). My 04 MCS has the 6-speed manual trans. |

| MINI2 Regular | Until recently i was getting an average of 28mpg, regardless of what sort of driving (unless i spent the whole tank with my foot welded to the floor!) I have just started using Sainsbury's Super Unleaded (97) and my mpg is now an average 32mpg. They're not the most economical of cars! Monster Monster |

Offline | Now I am confused. Trip to scotland from London I can get 36mpg but have to keep to the speed limits (Less than 70 mph) Daily Commute 10 miles Dual carriage way 5 Miles of Town Driving - Luton 8 Miles of country roads. I get 28mpg if I drive like an old woman and 24-25 if I drive properly. Seem to find no change with 99 RON Tesco fuel but perhaps I need to persevere with this stuff as not filling very often with this. Could the people who get over 30mpg on commuting please let me know how they get this as short of visiting GTT I can't see a way to improve the figures. Thanks |

Offline | Four things to save fuel : 1) DONT use Optimax! Use Esso Supreme Super Unleaded or Tesco 99 maybe. 2) Dont buy a works as they run stupidly rich and just drink the fuel 3) Get the ECU remapped with someone like MTH. I managed 38mpg on the motorway with MTH and around town it was sooooo much better on fuel. Happily didnt use very much at all. 4) Dont accelerate so hard and look ahead. If everyone is slowing down lift off. The MCS thanks to its heavy supercharger will slow down pretty quickly and during the slowing down your car isnt using barely any fuel at all! Far less than idle. |

Offline | i havent seen an improvement in this using Tesco99...i generally cruise in 4th if i need to be nippy but i can happily cruise around town in 6th, so perhaps try a higher gear rather than shortshifting. |

Offline | Anything between 24-34 mpg... depends on the right foot. I would estimate about 250-70 miles on a tank with reasonably hard use and mixed forms of driving. I have made over 300 on occasion but that was almost complete mway and dueltrack. |

Offline | I get between 14 and 22 mpg in my US-spec '05 MCS on the autobahn (cruise set at 120 mph typically). It's 14 up rolling hills and 22 down them. I always have my foot in it during normal driving so my mileage suffers. It's the 44-year old kid in me I guess. 2005 MINI Cooper S2007 BMW 530i SMG on order1997 Ducati 748 (sold )Scuderia Ferrari WILL be back in 2006!!! |

Offline | Shortshifting is when you go up a gear early. For example, shifting short of redline. 2005 MINI Cooper S2007 BMW 530i SMG on order1997 Ducati 748 (sold )Scuderia Ferrari WILL be back in 2006!!! |
