| Cooper S Cabrio | The thing about WARRENTY! Hey guys... I guess we've all come to question, wether we wanna risk our warranty or not. Some might not care at all, some might care a great deal. I'm in a position where i am really torned. Would it really be so bad mounting a little more effecient intercooler, a JCW airfilter a.s.f. What are your views? I am in LOVE with my Mini, no doubt about that. And i am not sure i am willing to risk my warranty, if something goes wrong of some keind. Hope you understand my concerns... :P Mini Cooper S Cabriolet |

Offline | Your warranty will not be affected by fitting Mini approved JCW parts, only your wallet. So JCW airfilter is OK. If you want to fit other parts, why not check first with your Mini dealer to see if they will agree to keep your warranty. If not - don't fit the part. I agree with you that this is a big issue for some people. It would be nice to add a few extra parts to make the Mini go faster, but there is the risk of losing your warranty. This is why many MCS owners go for the JCW 210bhp upgrade, even though it is extortionately priced. That way you keep your full warranty. ![]() |

| polizei -NAM and Focaljet | Another thing..... some dealers don't care about certain aftermarket parts either, at least in the US. I've not had first hand experience, but some people have not had any problems from aftermarket air filters (IE. ALTA, WMS, etc) and even some dealer don't care about aftermarket pullies! Unless the dealer can PROVE the aftermarket part caused the mishap/defect, they SHOULD cover it under warrenty, but like Capsaisin said, check with your dealer FIRST. And if your dealer doesn't care, I would personally go aftermarket. You get better deals (ie. cheaper) and you'll also get more for your money (performance). -Cody (Good luck!) | I miss my MINI | As others have stated, it just really depends on what you are doing and who you are dealing with when it comes to warranty. The few small mods that I have done the dealer has seen and the service tech even commented on them saying that he liked them. Global Moderator ![]() |

| Cooper S Cabrio | Arh, okay! Important fact that is. Was just wondering if it wouldn't affect i fitted myself. Anyway, i am familiar with the JCW kit and the advantages. And also the price unfortunately. In Denmark, the price are around £4300 with full installation. But then you are sure of quality wright? In my book, parts from different manufacturers can't be as good as an approved and well tested tuning kit, considering that all the parts are made to work together, aswell as approved by the BMW Group. I believe that is quite a quality stamp? ![]() Mini Cooper S Cabriolet |

Offline | Yes, the BMW quality stamp ££££££££££££££££££££££££ And Jonmorgan raises a very interesting question. If I buy and fit a BMW/JCW approved JCW airbox myself, does this technically invalidate my warranty? ![]() |

| Cooper S Cabrio | Actually, i were thinking about doing just that. Also a pair of "Snoot Boots" or whatever it's called, the model Roland are selling. Which intercooler is the number 1, which fits directly onto the engine without mods? That and a JCW filter, would be a good start - don't you think? And not noticable when changed back to stock parts just before warrantywork? ![]() Mini Cooper S Cabriolet |
