Offline | Picked up my S on Saturday lunchtime and have covered about 300mls in it - only another 1200 or so till its run in... Not as much of a problem as I thought as with 6 gears you can still do over 100 with less than 4000rpm. I have owned loads of cars >15 including 98 Subaru Impreza Turbo, 88 Lancia Integrale, 95 Alfa GTV V6 Turbo and despite waiting since last September, the MCS is by far my favourite I have received excellent service from my dealer Holland Park too - thanks guys. Just a wee bit of 'snagging' to do -I expected this since the car is made in the UK! I am really looking forward to my drive up to Scotland in a couple of weeks - should complete the run in. For those in the queue - be patient its worth the wait! Also definitely get the MFS as the radio is quite a stretch from the drivers seat + its a great gadget! ![]() |

Offline | here's a picture continue to be even more pleased with the car - easy to drive in commuting traffic! Soo much torque, soo little effort - other road users are generally exceptionally polite - don't cut you up and let you into queues! Only the City of Westminster traffic warden was unimpressed (jealous perhaps) nearly got a ticket! |

Offline | Re: here's a picture Agree about the polite drivers. As long as you remain civil (be a nice motorer) other drivers seem pleased to allow you in - give you a break. I guess it's just so cute. Picked my father up from National Airport (Just outside of Washington DC) Saturday night. Lot's of police presence since Sept 11 - they will no longer let you just wait for your arriving passengers. Got to keep moving. Anyway, airport police and VA state troopers come up to the car and don't ask me to move on - They want to talk about the Mini!!! Police "How does it run, my wife wants one"; State trooper "how fast does it go"...Me "Just the speed limit sir "Have fun ![]() Picked up 12 July 2002. 69,000 rev happy miles Autocrossing in G Stock this year!!! |

Offline | Isn't he supposed to be on that side of the road? He is in the UK. As far as the directional being on, I'm assuming he was about to pass his "mate" that took the photo. |

Offline | Motoring it is! Maybe you lucky Americans never need to overtake! We British like driving on the 'wrong' side of the road alongside most of the Commonwealth & Japan. Anyway my car is at the garage at the moment sorting out very minor teething problems..... 1. Door reflector missing on passenger door 2. greasy finger prints on the inside of my rev counter plastic!! clearly the guy who assembles these wasn't wearing his white gloves! Other minor glitches I've fixed myself include clutch pedal rubber falling off & brake rubber nearly falling off - both of these are fine now I've put them on properly (no glue required, just a bit of patience). Also the hose for the front screen wash kept getting snagged in the bonnet shut line on the drivers side - solved this with a small piece of tape! I hate to moan as the car really is fantastic - definitely gets a great reaction from other road users too! I had a fantastic first trip out of London on Sunday up to Norfolk to see my Aunt - she had an original 1965 Morris Cooper (blue white roof) and is now keen to get a new one. Driving impressions: On motorway - best small car I've ever driven on a long trip so quiet && effortless at cruising - great ride too On A roads - even better - car enjoys high speed sweepers & overtaking is easy peasy. On normal B roads - better still handling is superb and road holding as good as my Subaru, now tyres have scrubbed in. On dreadful Norfolk Fen roads - car is fun and doesn't wallow at all - perhaps a wee bit too firm though... If I lived round here I'd want the stock Cooper setup - luckily I don't... I also ran over a snake (an adder I think) - I've never even seen a snake before in England. I hope this isn't bad luck?? On Roundabouts - got a bit of a shock as the DSC kicked in on the first couple I tried (the tyres weren't scrubbed in <50 miles!) the DSC is great though. Roundabouts are now supreme fun - car has loads of grip & a chassis as well balanced as my Integrale (much better than a Subaru) Am already missing my car - its only been gone an hour or so! ![]() |
