Offline | Here's something you could try, from this company http://www.bbrgti.com/home.php BBR MINI COOPER S EVO-2 SOFTWARE ONLY When we designed our 220 to 275BHP Cooper S conversions we mapped the ECU's accordingly to achieve the best possible power and economy. Looking back we realised we had ignored the possible advantages from modifying the manufactures original software on an unchanged mechanically (standard) car. As a new BBR starting point to Cooper S tuning we have recently carried out extensive engine dyno testing to improve the original software. We realise not all of you out there want another 40+ BHP, most would be happy with another 18BHP, far crisper throttle response and improved engine vitality. Now here's the magic part, with our new software installed, as an addition to the increase in performance, the engine which guzzles fuel in its original form now has far, far better fuel economy! Our own demo Cooper S returns well over 300 miles per tank full and will average up to 39MPG and that's with DB driving, and he doesn't mess about! Our Cooper S now achieves a free tank of fuel after every 6 fill ups! (compared with the manufactures software) Price Fitted While-U wait just £349 - and remember this is totally undetectable, it's your BBR's secret...! Now recently we've heard guy's with Cooper S's on the phone telling us that so called Cooper S tuning experts are claiming a whacking great 25 - 30BHP from just a software modification..!!!! (please also see Cooper S Beware of BS!). So here's the BBR challenge: if any of these so called experts can prove on our engine dyno (free of charge) that they can achieve on pump fuel a gain of over 18BHP (let alone 30BHP) from just changing the software (from the original manufactures). They can win free of charge our new 2005 Cooper S model with a list price of £24 000!!! We await the first phone call (LOL). |

| "I'm kind of a big deal" | Lucas oil! 0w30 naturally! I get easily 20-30miles more on a full tank. About £30 for 5lt (enough for an oil change) Also cars more than2 or 3 years old may benefit from Cataclean which is an additive that goes in with your petrol and usually returns improved fuel economy and throttle response (depending on how clogged up your catalytic converter is!) Easily the biggest change of all however, is changing your driving style, and I don't nessecarily mean slowing down Better use of gears and looking MUCH further ahead so you can plan your driving will help loads! ie: if you're approaching a car ahead that is travelling slower than you, back off the accelerator and match their speed rather than maintaining your speed and using your brakes to scrub off the speed at the last minute as you get close up to them. Sounds obvious but things like this make a massive difference!!! My fuel economy improved loads after a few advanced driving lessons! The more you drive using acceleration sense and less brake pedal, the better! |

| MINIMAD | I would disagree!!! Although the 95ron is cheaper, and the 97ron at sainsburys is about 2-3p per ltr more expensive, for a car that will take about 45-50ltrs maximum, that amounts to a whole £1-£1.50extra per tank. With this fuel, as it burns Quicker, cleaner and MOST IMPORTANTLY MORE EFFICIENTLY, You WILL get a better return on your MPG!!! |

Offline | I agree with you wo53 rks, a Works car seems to have better MPG than an MCS for some reason. I always run mine on Optimax because that's what the soon to be departed JCG told me. It's a bit ironic really that you pay an extra £3500.00 to go Works and it would be interesting to see how much of that you can claw back in MPG? In reality probably nothing because your to happy thrashing the butt out of it. ![]() |
