I was sure when I ordered my S (back in 2005) that I asked for Xenon lights, but now, having just been to a dealer to see about selling my car I was told I didn't have Xenon's! He showed me the spec on screen and it didn't show Xenons on there either

How can I tell for sure if I have Xenon's or not? The light looks bluish when I turn my lights on (different colour quality than the full beam) they automatically level with weight in the car (there is no beam height adjuster like my old Cooper) and they also have built in headlamp washers. Does this give any clues?

Yes it sounds like you have Xenons

Here is a pic of mine with Xenon headlights

They won't be listed on your spec sheet, because they come as part of the CHILI pack, assuming you have that

Yes, got the chilli pack. Thought I was going mad when he said I didn't have them! That's exactly what mine look like.

All I can think is the the salesman is new or he is trying it on !!

The screen he showed you would have only listed the factory options fitted to the car.

As Xenon Headlamps are an integral part of the CHILI Pack they do not show up as a separate item.

I imagine the trying it on part is as Benfrain mentioned he was trying to sell the car the dealer was probably giving a trade in price?
