Best track for Novices is Bedford Autodrome. Just choose a day, book it, and go have the best fun you can have in a Mini.

Pay for a 1 on 1 instruction session.

Expect some tyre wear, expect to use at least 2 tanks of fuel.

Go easy on your brakes and tyres by doing 1 complete warm up lap and 1- 2 cool down laps.

Dont race anyone

Follow the instructions and rules

Have lots of fun.

A day will cost you around £350 including booking, fuel, degredation of consumables (tyres/pads) but not insurance....

cadwell is the best track ive ridden. its like 2 tracks in one - fist half is totally different to that second. also its not an airfield circuit so has hills etc, which is rare in the uk

i certainly wouldnt have to pay £350 for a bike day. thats disgusting! usually pay £100-£150

Average track day costs £200. Add at least £100 for fuel on track, £50 fuel for the round trip. Take into account tyre degredation costs and pad wear. Add some instruction. Some money for food.....

Not much change from £350 for a day in a Mini on track. In fact your probably looking at over £400 at a decent curcuit... I've done 15 or so track days, thats what it costs....

And I NEVER bothered with the extra cost of insurance for the day either.....

Motorsport is dangerous. To you health and wealth......

Bike days are much cheaper obviously...

Would second that for Cadwell - it was my first trackday and is a great circuit. Usually cheap too. The twists, turns and gradient changes are a great way of improving your road driving compared to an airfield day. However - its tricky and theres lots of stuff to bounce off, so get instruction! A well driven MINI will keep up with plenty of cars there with more power.

Got some great photos going over the mountain...

...There is the Castle Combe (Wiltshire) All Mini 'track day' next Saturday the 30th Sept. You can just buy one track session at a time if you wish at £25 ,and have a taster.

Rather than just a standard trackday, I'll be taking instruction from driverskills.com in my mini. It's a half day sessions where you have an instructer with you who will teach you how to drive the track and advanced driving techniques, how to control the car if start to loose control etc.

I think this is a good place to start for me as my only car before my Cooper S was a Ford Fiesta (1.25) :P. So, I think the instuction is a wise investment for someone as young as I

Thumbs up Malaysia Sepang F1 Track Day

2 Sundays ago was a fun-filled event for all MINI owners in Malaysia.

The morning session was a track event organized by HPC, where any cars can participate. The afternoon session was another track event organized by BMW where only MINIs can participate.

Check out our gallery at MINI OWNERS CLUB MALAYSIA for photos from both Track Sessions held on September 17.

We also have 2 videos for viewing:

MC vs. 330i (E90)
YouTube - Mini Cooper vs 330i @ Sepang Track

MCS vs. M3/BMW

Enjoy!

Booked my tickets. I have two sessions on the track. Never done it before so I have them in the afternoon so I can see how the other people do it. I might have 17 stone of balast in the car with me though. (Just dont tell my dad I called him that)

Castle Coombe is quite intimidating for a beginner, just remember the golden rule - its not a race - and enjoy it. MAny people will pass you, in cars that you think should be slower - dont let that worry you, as its all about the driver, not the car, on the track.

I'm a big fan of being thrown in at the deep end. I dont care how many people come past, I'm just there to give my car a good run and have some fun. Besides, a well driven slow car can always go faster than a baddly driven fast car. With 230bhp+ I am probably the latter.

I'll second tony on that! At Keith Issats charity day at coombe in feb, the jcw challenge boys were all over every thing - and i mean everything, in their coopers. The Ss were unbelievable... just so much confidence, belief in the car and track knowledge.

Over the day i brought my (unofficial obviously ) times down by over 20 seconds by watching their lines and trying to be smoother. You'll have a blast!

you wanna try going over the mountain with your front wheel a foot in the air! thats a buzz!

your right saying there is plenty to bounce off. the second half of the track is really narrow. its improved alot though - there used to be a tree on the run off, which you had to aim at going over the blind sumit into the final 2 turns!

scarey place!

Mr Bridger told me to do it.....

Exclamation Track Day gone bad

Here is some poor soul on his first track day, the Mrs sitting in the navigator's seat. Got distracted, didn't make the turn.... take a look, and how high can you count?
