Hi there,

Had my 2nd hand 04 Mini Cooper for a couple of weeks now and loving it. When purchased, I was told it had Xenons. Without wishing to sound stupid....oh what the hell....is there any way to easily identify if they are xenons ? I've read in various places that xenons are self levelling. However, I still have the little dial to the right of the steering wheel that makes them go up and down ! Any answers to this ridiculously simple question would be much appreciated !!!

Probably not Xenons then, I think they all should be auto-levelling. Xenons also have automatic washers, don't know if that's an option on Halogen lights as well. However the most distinct feature of Xenon bulbs is of course the blueish colour that they emit. It also takes about a second or two for them to light up, in contrast to halogens, which turn on almost instantly.

Oh, and Xenons also have a warning sticker on the lamp enclosure, warning users of high voltages.

OK, so I'm off to France on Saturday and I tried this last night.

The problem is the R55 xeons don't look like that

There's no lever to move up and down. There is one white platic lever in a similar place, so I played with that, but it didn't seem to have any effect.

Anyone know how to do this on an R55?
