Offline | I turn it off occasionally when I'm in the mood for a bit of entertainment and its not likely to cause too many problems as long as you're careful. Having said that - you may wish to check with your insurance company as we've heard very reliably that turning the traction control off may invalidate your insurance. Our local dealer had an M3 written off and not covered by insurance when someone switched it off. |

Offline | I always drive with mine off because another floor to the car is that it is too sensitive in the rain bordering on dangerous. When pulling away from a roundabout/junction it sometimes kicks in leaving you stranded onto incoming cars. As regards invalidating you insurance this seems dubious. |

Offline | I used to regularly drive with it off in poor conditions as it was way too sensitive and just killed the power dead instead of feathering it. Since having my DME progrmming done due to a stumble in low revs the traction is a million times better...takes quite significant slippage to get it to kick in and it is far more progressive now so you just keep your foot buried and it sorts itself out and the power doesn't die it just diminishes a bit....fantastic. I will never switch mine off now, except if i went to the track or drag strip or really wanted to see what it can do off the line (oh an on the rolling road as it sets all the warning lights off otherwise ) |

Offline | The first thing i do when i get in car is flick the button of death As above the DSC is way to sensitive more dangerous than anything, especially when performing over taking manouvers you need the traction and the DSC just isn't as effective as altering the throttle.. As for does it infringe insursance whose to know switche car off and as soon as it's it started the dsc back on again PRESS THE DSC BUTTON ![]() |

Offline | in the rain is when you are most likely to need the DSC - i have spun a car which didnt have this in the wet and spinning at 50mph onto a dual carrigeway and ending up facing the wrong way is not fun - only reason it happened - wet + needed new tyres (didnt want to fork out for new tyres as trading car in against new mini in a few days!) leave the DSC on unless you know what your doing or its is dry and quiet on the roads and you want to push your limits a bit. |

Offline | not found it too much of a prob just feather the throttle as if the wheels were spinning and you keep going also kicks in when you put the throttle down at the apex of going round a roundabout - but just stops you going sideways ![]() |

Offline | Not sure depends on tyres its worse if you have run flats on, but i have been overtaking someone and lossed traction and it feels as if cars lossed all power thats not safe just to sensitive for my liking.![]() |

Offline | i dont have a LSD but i guess its how aggressive you are with acceleration as well - gradual squeezing on of power rather than dropping down 3 gears and slamming yopur foot? ![]() |

Offline | i HAVE THE LSD IT MAKES IT A LITTLE TWITCHY UNDER HARD ACCELERATION IN THE WET BUT IT IS ALL ABOUT HOW YOU APPLY THE POWER, BUT SAYIN THAT I JOINED THE MOTORWAY THE OTHER DAY (VERY WET) CHANGING UP AT 3K NOT DRIVING HARD AND IT SPAN IN THE FIRST THREE GEARS WHICH I BLAME RUNFLATS FOR MORE THAN ANYTHING SO ITS ANNOYONG FOR ME TO HAVE THE DSC ON. ![]() |

Offline | I do find the DSC on my MCS a little intrusive in the wet. There is a t-junction I have to take a left at every day. It is uphill and a fast busy road so you need to get out quick. I find that wehn it is wet it doesn't take much for the DSC to kick in, trouble is it doesn't just reduce the power alittle bit to allow traction, it really bogs down, then gradually lets the power back in... not great. When I remember, I turn off dsc at this junction as the LSD seems to work much better without it. I find that with DSC on it kicks in before the LSD has a chance to do its thing. Overall, I think DSC is a good thing, I just think it could do with being less intrusive on take-off. HBB MCS |
