Considering purchase of facelift 04 MCS JCW - should i expect reliability problems??

As above. Had a look at the faults and fixes page and there seem to be many, many posts. Are the issues mainly restricted to the earlier cars, or am i still running a lottery if a purchase an 04 facelift car?

Any thoughts much appreciated!!

Thumbs up

July 05 mcs, had window motor and engine mount from dealers in last 12 months [warrenty]
but no issues with dealer, went in with gtt220 kit and monster strut brace, they did not bat an eyelid
i would not worry, every one likes a moan, this website is full of us, i think the latest motoring mags has bmw mini nr the top for reliability, ownership costs are low in terms of depreciation and servicing if you have TLC
the only downside is fuel and insurance, but find another performance car where these arn't issues, drive with a lightish right foot and avoid picking up points you will be fine
go ahead and enjoy

OCT 05 MCS, 14000 miles, been to dealer lots of times with the following faults.

Washer jets failed
engine mount failed
wheel bearing went
door motor broke
door buzzing sound, visit to dealer 4 times, had to fix myself in end
dash top rattle, dealer not able to fix
speedo buzz, comes and goes
Windscreen decided to crack going over speed bump, 8 inch stress crack
electric mirrors failed
Seat belt sqeaked, b pillar trim replaced
A side panel in the back started to come off and would'nt go back on, dealer replaced interior moulding
Have surface rust under rubber door seal

I expect something to go wrong daily, the engine and gearbox are good though.
