Exhaust noise

My Mini cs is 6 months old, is it normal that the exhaust makes a lot of back pressure popping noise when slowing down with the foot off the throttle

I believe it is supposed to do it. Mine certainly does. I find it hard to resist bliping the throttle whilst sitting at the traffic lights

I had GTT re-route pipe fitted and now my car pops like mad. I love it to bits.

I seem to remember reading that on the 54 plate onwards they changed the exhaust too make it pop even more

Good girls are just bad girls who haven't been caught yet.

Do the one ball mod and you will be in heaven - like others I will often sit at the light and blip the throttle to hear it pop and crackle.

I'm told that BMW tuned the firing order to make it pop and crackly like the classic Cooper S - I know my dad's '68 MCS used to crackle and pop just like it...

And that BMW opted for the supercharger because the whine would mimic the gear whine of the old A series gearbox - which it does.
