Offline | just watched my milage countdown go up ;) filled up yesterday with £40 of fuel, before i filled up computer stated 47 miles left. when i filled up it said 241!!!! i was abit gutted so decided to be gentle yesterday. i did a total of 30 miles (motorway and normal roads) and i drove sensibly and changed gear around 3k revs. the computer now states 290 and peaked at 299 yesterday! made me feel better as i did some shopping etc and gained me some miles. think i may see if it is possible to get 250 to 300 miles on a tank.......... very much doubt it but im going to try. Offline | I think you could get in that range. It's tricky though. Recently I tried driving like an ANGEL, doing all the things they advise to increase consumption. It didn't make THAT much difference. |

Offline | I filled up my R53S last night and it said I had a range of 362 miles after fairly normal driving. Average economy 32 or 33mpg. Do you do a lot of town driving? Tigger. ![]() I'm back!! Offline | Sorry Chris, but around town, stop-start, driving seems really bad news for the R53S Here's something to aim for, this was my first 100 ish miles after collecting mine: ![]() ![]() That was taking it very easy, but it was on a very tight new engine as well. So reasonable (32 ish mpg) economy is possible Tigger. ![]() I'm back!! AND I'm not going to be intimidated! ![]() For sunshine, fun and Cornish Pasties: New MINI Kernow Cornish Oggy Run 2009! |

Offline | It does depend on our journeys. My regular used to be about 32 mpg for the Cooper, 28 for the S. We now get about 30 from the S without any runs of or "fun little spins" in the car. Ours is country lanes or 60-70 mpg 1 mile stretches in Milton Keynes, no motorways or long stretches at all. |

![]() The Muffin Man | You mean 60-70mph Paul? hehe ![]() In my Cooper I do 99% motorway driving and stick at constant speeds.. From a full tank I can do 300 miles untill the red light. Dont normally push it any further but is there like 8 litres still left when the red light appears? What MPG am i getting roughly and do you think i would get many more miles if i was to run it to nothing (obviously im not going to lol) ? |

![]() Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly. | I never let it get that low myself. I'd rather not run the risk of having sediment and the dregs from the bottom of the tank being sucked into my engine. You can calculate the MPG with the knowledge that the MINI's fuel tank is approx. 11 gallons. I'm not sure how much fuel is left at the reserve light point - I think it says it in the manual, but I can't be bothered to go out to the car and get mine. Maybe someone else knows. ![]() |

Offline | Don't empty it to get the MPG, you simply fill it full, reset the trip. Next fuel stop, make a note of the mileage and the fuel you put in, reset trip, and repeat. ![]() |

Offline | computer changed its mind, had 22 miles left when i got out of car, few hours later got going again knowing that i had 5 miles spare, as journey progressed it whent rapidly down from 12 to 0 and later whilst slowing down back up to 6 then back to 0 for last 8 miles i take more notice of trip total rather than the count down, it has shown a possible 464 before, av 320-330 per tank [as i was under 300 i was sure i had some in hand] have got over 350 before on a long trip, mixture of town and motorway 30/70 split mcs gtt220 driven at the limit [yes i mean speed limit] can give fair mpg compared to other performance cars, no i dont drive with a hat or gloves or only on sundays ![]() ![]() carefree |

| Muskehound | Have you noticed, when its been on 0 miles for a few miles it changes to displaying '---' Thats when you really know its time to fill up. ![]() Just for comparison, I average 33-34mpg in my R53S with now 19k on the clock. Mixture of town and motorway driving. |

Offline | I'm absolutely gobsmacked to see a thread like this on a Cooper S forum. I certainly didn't buy mine to go nursing the throttle to see how good a fuel consumption I can get Any of you guys ever thought of trading in for a Diesel One ![]() |

Offline | Certainly not If people on the One D forum talk about chipping their Ones to get more performance, can't we talk about getting half decent economy from our S's? Okay, so it's a bit weird, but it's all part of the fun Tigger. ![]() I'm back!!
