Is works steering wheel similar to bmw sport wheel?

Just a quick question.... what is the mini works steering wheel (all leather version) like compared to the bmw sport steering wheel as found in some modern sport and m-sport models.

I was sitting in a top of the range z4 today and the steering wheel was fantastic, reasonably small diameter, thick rim and soft leather. The mini cooper s (3 spoke) wheel has in my mind always been a plasticy, hard, oversized disappointment and if the works wheel is as good as the bmw one I will defo be looking to purchase it.

Many thanks
Sam

They are pretty similar Sam, although the BMW M one is slightly thicker and a little softer. Bear in mind though that the BMW wheel is more than twice the price of the JCW one, so is bound to be a more impressive piece of kit.

Chances are your dealer will have one in stock, if they haven't got a car fitted with one, so you should be able to 'try before you buy'!

And welcome to the usually much more helpful site!

Thank you for the responce scrogg, will I notice the difference over my standard cooper s three spoke? I really would like something a bit more 'leathery' and expensive feeling.

Regards
Sam

and if you want it at a good price Sam, contact Chris at Derek Woodmans, they give discount

Although these are currently out of stock and there is a two week order time on it

The only problem I have is knowing which one to drive?

from the pics in the brochure the wheel looks really 'fat', but same size as the 3 spoke s wheel, also you can get the works inserts for the standard 3 spoke wheel so this may give a hint at the size.

Ok so we think that its similar in size, but chunkier than what I currently have? I will as suggested see if the dealers have one in stock I can take a look at, and then if it is an improvement buy one from woodmans.

That does look very similar in diameter.

My dad has the new M-sport 330, Same S/wheel as in the Z4's etc,

I know what you mean though, really are lush to hold, perforated leather, just the right thinkness.

The JCW wheel is slightly smaller, and its available in leather or alacantra, so two options

Alacantra is not covering the whole wheel if this is the one purchased, and is the model in the photo posted in this thread earlier

The only problem I have is knowing which one to drive?
