Offline | fitting a jcw air intake HELP!!! Im buying a jcw intake from local mini dealer for £274 in vat however im going to fit this myself. Im going to perform the flap removal mod and change the air element to the upgraded gtt version. What im wondering is do i just need to remove the old intake and partition and install the new ones and not connect any of the wires etc for the flap operation. Or do i still have to do that too. as much information as possible would be great. ive got the jcw intake instructions that dealers follow and it talks about wires and mapping and vacum tubes and t pieces and its confusing the hell out of me, please help ![]() anyone near me thats knows how, fancy giving me a hand or earning a crate of larger?? lol.. ![]() cheers Last edited by checkmatechris : Apr 24th, 2007 at 06:09 PM. Offline | If you are removing the intake flap, then you don't need to connect the wiring or vacuum pipe. I bought a JCW race version, which already has the flap and actuator removed. Mine came with a new bulkhead panel with 2 holes drilled in it for the 2 air box inlets. So remove old airbox, remove bulkhead panel. Fit new bulkhead panel, fit new airbox. I assume Roland will supply instructions for the JCW filter conversion. Only problems I had were: 1. Old air box needs a good pull to get it out. 2. Ensure new airbox is correctly located at the rear on fitting. Takes about an hour and that was being ultra careful. ![]() |

| MINI2 Master | Chris, keep your beer. It will take you no more than 30 minutes to do it. As for GTT instructions, there will be none, it is simply a drop in filter as is the standard paper one. There is nothing to really be done from what i can see. And if you are nervous about doing, just do it, cos the feelinjg you get once you have done sothing yourself is amazing. Also i would not bother buying froma dealer, i would scour ebay, or try and speak to Johncooper motorsport and get one of there modded ones for #149 quid, much cheaper and is already moded, thats where i got mine from |

Offline | It does come with instructions and isn't simply a drop in replacement, you need to drill 3 holes in the top of the airbox. It's not hard and instructions are good - and it does make a difference ![]() |

| GP 0380 | Ive a brand new never used or opened JC motorsport airbox sitting here And a GTT air filter for it unopened too. Could be tempted to sell it for the right money. Dont need to do the vacuum pipe mods, or electric mods, im tryin to reverse the vacuum pipe mod at moment to do back to standard, but its not easy. ![]() |
