| having fun or hungover... | Shouldn't move if torqued up properly! also possibly a bit of thredlock to stops them working loose! a hole will only go oval with friction and only possibilities of friction is if it's come loose! ![]() I'm in no way related to Roland, but i'd thought a chat would be better than a rant on here! ![]() |

Offline | I had mine fitted by Roland. I think that he replaced the originals nuts when he fitted it and it's never budged a millimeter. I've even taken it off (to change the oil filter) and replaced it myself and had no problems at all, and I'm a fussy old bu99er! Please speak to Roland about this before posting -ve comments ![]() Thanks, Tigger. ![]() Unintimated and I'm back!! ![]() For sunshine, fun and Cornish Pasties: New MINI Kernow Cornish Oggy Run 2009! |

Offline | I do not see a benefit to fitting an insert, unless the hole had become so enlarged that there is a poor mechanical interface between the nut/washer and the brace. The insert would only serve to cosmetically make the hole look round. The fundamental problem is that one or more nuts had worked themselves loose and this eventually allowed the bolt to rub against the hole. Nuts can come loose on any strut brace, and it is an issue to watch for whether the brace is GTT or any other brand. |

Offline | If you use the Nyloc nuts (nut with a nylon insert which basically locks the nut in place) provided by GTT when you purchase the GTT strut the nuts and torque them to the correct setting then you won't have this problem - trust me. Vroooom Vroooom |

| MINI2 Master | It is me that is selling the modified brace. In fairness this was because I found that the std. nuts kept coming loose, so in a rush I used the nyloc nuts with no washer ( don't think there's room for a washer anyway. When I took the brace off to fit new air filter I noticed that I had 'squashed' and elongated the holes. This probable doesn't effect the performance of the brace once it's 'bedded in' to this position, but being a bit picky decided to engineer in some harder inserts. Then i heard about the new 08MCS specs. and decided to take a test drive........big mistake ![]() So it's up for sale......................a one off ![]() Some other parts still up for grabs guys / gals. 06 HB/W MCS Chilli |
