Performance Upgrades

Has anyone any suggestions for remap/pulley upgrades for a 2005 Cooper S?

What company would you recommend?

Any idea how it effected the MINI Warranty?

I had heard stories of 210bhp, that seems a touch optimistic !

What figures did anyone achieve in the real world?

210 isn't optimistic, the official John Cooper Works kit achieves that, many aftermarket kits achieve more.

It is worth searching and browsing around, it also really depends on your budget and what you really want to achieve "more power" isn't really enough to know with so many different options on the market.

Andy,

The combo of parts we suggest are 15% pulley, Janspeed Manifold, GRS Intercooler and colder plugs.

We have a lot of ccustomers who like doing one mod at a time because it spreads the cost and you can feel and appreciate the difference.

What year isyour vehicle??

I went to 1320 and did exactly as he states above... I've got a pulley and a Cat back exhaust and achieved 214bhp on the fly so 210 is very achievable...

210 is achievable on the cheap provided you are thinking about crank numbers and not WHP. 1320Autos or GTT Tuning should be able to really help you there.

@GTT270 I forgot about the search function !
I'll go have a look to see what I can find.

@1320autos its a 2005 Cooper S, I'm in Northern ireland so it isn't handy for me to get to you

@PMP my previous car (not a MINI) had 240bhp, so I wouldn't mind a few extra horses

@sef a exhaust and pulley got you to 214bhp! thats amazing

The MINI is used daily so I don't want any alterations making it unpleasent to drive, my folks had an upgraded GtiEngineering Golf years back & it could be a pig to drive

I assume areas to look at are Pulley, exhaust & remap?
I want to take my time over looking into this as I am loathed to mess up the warranty

I got my S around the same time as you,

I've just ordered a 15% reduced SC pulley and a 2% crank pulley with NGK Iridium plugs and panel filter.

Getting Works exhaust fitted next couple of weeks. I'll let you no the improvement.

Aren't you from Ni-minis and MLNI

I am

I'll be interested to see what difference you feel with the mods.

I'm in two minds cause I do want some extra bhp but i don't want to mess with the warranty or TLC

I've managed to squeeze my name on a list for a rolling road day, non-mini.
So I can see what its doing as standard and then if/when I do any mods I'll know what exact gains I've achieved
