Offline | Does this sound right? for a MCS OK first proper fill up from empty due to faulty drastically under reading guage! Just squeezed in 50.73 litres and the fuel guage low level warning light still hadn't come on and the guage still showed 1/2 way between empty and 1/4 tank. So much for tank only holding 50 lites but I did brim it to the top! DOES THE FOLLWING SOUND RIGHT? for a MINI COOPER S ************************************************* 298 Miles on trip meter which was made up of 150 miles on motorway between 70-85mph and 148 miles around town to and from work etc. Average miles per gallon was a somewhat disappointing 26.75mpg or is this right for the above mix bearing in mind only 400 odd miles on engine so far ![]() Too many freaks not enough circuses Tell a man that there are 400 billion stars and he'll believe you. Offline | Your MPG numbers are very close to what I have been seeing on mine. I would be happier if it was a bit more thrifty about how much gas it burns. I have around 2300 miles now and anytime I do a combination of highway/city it seems to average 26 to 27 MPG. These figures are OBC numbers only, I have not yet brought myself to calculate every drop of fuel using the now antiquated manual methods . I also will not be drawn into the imperial gallon vs US gallon debate!Tom |

Offline | Picked up my S on Thursday (finally) I too filled the car at roughly between empty and 1/4 on the fuel gauge (nearer empty) after the low fuel light came on. I only managed to get 40 litres in Regarding fuel consumption, although it is early days, I seem to be getting around 25 mpg with mostly urban driving. Anyway, must go for another spin. This car is addictive .... ![]() |

Offline | Highway driving about 29 - 31, in town about 20 - 23 depending on how I drive. My OBC is always about 20% higher. Somebody postulated in another thread that it may be calibrated for imperial gallons. I haven't checked yet with my dealer to see if it's so. Overall, around 25 is what most are getting, I think. Offline | Re: Re: Drip Fed Fuel Oh well next fill up see wot you can squeeze in but I was surprised to get another 14 litres + in ... My guage is so far the only fault in 400+ miles and 7 days fun ownership ![]() Too many freaks not enough circuses Tell a man that there are 400 billion stars and he'll believe you. Offline | I filled my tank up when it was just above the red light. I managed to get 40 litres into the tank before the pump clicked. If you take into account that there are always reserves in the tank even if you hit the red light, it all seems fine to me. However, I have noticed that once I've filled it up, the level seems to take quite a dip in the first few miles, before levelling off. Global Moderator ![]() |

Offline | My driving is mostly highway (70-80 MPH usually....3,000-3,200 RPM) with "spirited" downshifting, and "exhubarant" entrances to the highway. I was getting only 21-22 MPG, but am now getting about 24 (after 4,000 miles). I got 30 once when I was really trying to squeeze every drop I could out of her (2,500 RPM for 90 miles straight after filling up).
