Ive just got my mini cooper s 2003, im just wondering about the whining sound that comes from the steering pump i think, is this normal as it is abit annoying after a bit

They all have that - well, not all. The new ones don't. You'll get used to it. When I test drove a new Mini recently I found it weird that it didn't whine!

the other thing that i noticed was that i did stall the car the engine is off but the ignition on and the whining was still there

That'll be because the both the Electro-Hydraulic PAS and Power Steering Pump both work when the ignition is on but the engine isn't started.

Again, nothing to worry about.

Ive got a problem with mine. Mine whines which seems normall so i see but now and again when turning while not moving the whining makes a funny noise and then steering is very heavy. I have to either drive and let it ease or turn ignition off and turn back on.

this normal or a problem?

Power steering fluid needs possibly changing, I got this in my old Audi.
