The unluckiest MCS owner ever!

Ok, went to pick up my 03 plate mcs this morning, everything went fine. Drove around for a while. Came home had lunch, then noticed the pool of oil round the car . Gave the garage a phone, who came and picked up the car. They phoned me back telling me that the oil filter had blown up . This was were the oil was leaking from. Has anyone ever had this problem before. Its not a MINI dealer, so im kind of worried they havent really solved the problem. Gutted beyond words.

Ouch!
Be sure to take pictures, or have them do it, and be sure to ask for the parts back once they are done. Since you mention that they are not a dealer shop, you might want to consider bringing the parts back to the dealer and see if they've seen anything similar.

keep us posted!

Thats not so good Andrew, I am assuming by the picture of the car on another thread that you bought it from Bickets in Kilmarnock?

HI guys
This is why i love this forum, you guys knew the problem before they did. It seems the O ring was not creating a proper seal on the oil filter. They had it changed and back to me within in the day. It wasnt a great start, but ive now had 200 miles of trouble - free miles.
Cooper "s" : How did you know lol?
I cant really fault them yet, they were very helpful.
cheers guys

Hiya Mate,

I am from Ayrshire myself and was brought up in Ayr. I live near Dundee now but I easily recognise areas in pics etc.

I have never had any dealings with Bickets but had a mate that left school to work there.

Its good that its all sorted, these things happen but at least it got fixed asap

Dave

this is a common fault with pattent parts.

Theres a few thread re oil filters, but you should always use genuine OE parts for the oil filter, the seals are a lot better for some strange reason.
