I'm a 52 plate 03 and with 60k on it. had very little go wrong on mine, but now getting the dreaded chassis wobble. Check that all the susp, steering, chassis & mounts are in good nick ... they do go esp the engine and chassis

Just jinxed it now, never say the above without touching copious amounts of wood.

You call those "high mileage"?

Mine's a lauch 02 MCS, with Chilli pack (not that you had a huge amount of choice with the launch cars).

Problems? Well, the clutch was replaced at about 5,000. Erm, the boot lock was problematic for the first two years until finally fixed once and for all. And after that, I'm struggling to think of anything. Nope, that's about it apart from wear and tear items.

And it's done 105,000 miles .

OK, I'm probably going to get shot of it sometime this year (drooling over a Clubman S) - but that's more to do with acquiring a second child than any other reason; if we could manage with the standard MCS, I could see it lasting another year or two no probs.

Thats impressive, but I guess it's no difference than buying another 5/6 year old car with 100k on the clock

What do you mean, "no diffrent to another 5/6 year old car"?

It's a Cooper S - there's all the difference you could ever need, right there!

I caught myself sizing up a Renault Megane 230 today. Yes, but it's not a Mini Cooper S, is it? Buy one, and I know that I'll regret it in a few months' time.

2004 MCS 55,000miles

New power steering pump/fan
2 clutchs - warranty
1 gearbox - warranty
1 engine mount warranty
1 sump gasket warranty

needs 2 new front lower arm bushes and a sump gasket...i have to pay this time though ...coming shortly lol

grrr pulling to the left now aswell, although it might just need the tracking sorted, anyone any bright ideas..only on standard 17's and the tyres are at the correct pressure, its on eibach springs but has always been fine, just recently its started doing it and its just had an insp2 service and nothing came up on this ot the MOT

Going to get a spare supercharger, abit unsure but may get a spare header tank as heard so many rumors about them spliting, have a spare front bumper and Milltek exhaust

Sorry, I mean't in the respect that you could get problems on any car that age/mileage.

I've been thinking about getting a MCS or an S3 for some time now. Even though I prefer the MCS it doesn't seem too reliable!

More whiiiine please!

Hola!

Good thread this. I'm reviving it because there's good experiences here and I've just clocked 50k mileage this week after 4.5 years of happy, happy ownership

No major repairs ever TOUCH LARGE AMOUNTS OF WOOD but I'm about to book into Dick Lovett to get a weeping sump gasket replaced and also order/collect replacement exhaust brackets for the common problem that they rust through at the back.

But I'm wondering, with pulling to the left being talked about, MINI isn't drifting per se, but she has got slightly twitchy, and for really simple things like overtakes or coming on/off a carriageway. Tyres and pressure are so-so, I check them once a week.

Also, MINI has started creaking from the middle of the car. She has been doing this on really simple things as well, it's not when being thrown around a tight corner by Ayrton Senna. I was thinking a strut brace to steady things up, but that's not really a solution is it?

Anyone been through this at all? Twitchiness and creaking and repairs at 50k?

Twichiness could be Wishbone bushes...
Did you have the steering column replaced as that was a common fault?
4 and a half hears is pretty good ownership for a MINI
