Dead supercharger

Well.. my 03 with 72k miles is now in the hospital (non mini shop) and i'm wondering if anyone else has had to replace their superchargers and about what they spent for the process. I know its xpensive but want to make sure I'm not the one getting knackered.

Thanks all

btw.. I still love the car, even with my empty pockets.

I notice that you are in Phoenix, = hot and dusty?
Chargers will last 100000 miles ,then start to show wear, but the life will be reduced in harsher climates, the oil is never replaced as a scheduled maintenace task which does not help, and the air filter change periods is optimistic to say the least (50000 miles)
Reducing pulley size makes the charger work harder and wear accellerates, more heat causes expansion and rotor surfaces can wear faster.
On the plus side there are chargers available from ebay and the like ,far below new prices, but these are starting to get harder to find-there is not an unlimited supply!!!
A few hours to replace ,not sure about US labo(u)r rates
I dont think many chargers will exceed the 125000 mark -they are hardly ever removed and cleaned and re-oiled ,and air filters not replaced often enough or cleaned often enough if cleanable
Dealer chargers around £1200/ $2400 for the charger alone
get ebaying!!! nice to have a spare new charger in the garage for peace of mind
