electric blue the worst colour?

Whilst doing my daily searches on autotrader and mini cherished for a cooper S under 10k and under 40k miles im always coming across them in electric blue, then followed by dark grey. Is there a reason for this? the colours i want the car in chili red and indi blue are all in the top end of the budget.

Is elec blue and dark grey 'colours' that are not holding their value?

Hi
I do not know the date range but for quite a while these colors were reserved for the Cooper S only.
Guess a lot of people would have chosen these for that reason and of course the factory spec cars were were nearly always relesed in this livery.
TBH I liked the dark gray but chose red to avoid the stereotyping so they will be about if you look around.

Dark grey I really like, especially if the arches are colour coded too, it can look really nice.

Sorry to all the electric Blue owners out there but I dont dig it as a colour for myself perosnally... which is fair enough as you could well hate chilli red for example which happens to be my current prefrence

Still miss black II tho

DS was the only colour for me at the time. Apologies for all the owners, but I didn't like EB.

Think my next one will be CR though!

They were, as already stated, exclusive colours, so they're very common on the S.

But Electric Blue is one of the best colours they ever did.

Leccy Blue is lovely! And if the one below had White Stripes, that was what my ideal MINI was when the S was first launched Then I met a Chili Red one

Theres one round the corner from me with aerokit always sparkling.

On the way to work i always see a Red R53 S up until a couple of months ago. Then on Friday saw it again now with aerokit, Works kit and R95s, just like the 1 in the Works broucher. I would love a CR S. or trying to find my CR Cooper and buying it back again to use everyday.

Colour is subjective. Personally I wouldn't have bought in any blue or yellow as I absolutely had to have a black roof and I think those colours don't look right with black. My top choices were DS or CR. I ended up with DS though I'd probably have gone for CR if an otherwise identical car had been available when I was looking.

I really, really like black cars but to my mind the Mini doesn't suit black for some reason. Maybe it's just that I think the Mini needs the different coloured roof but that a white roof also looks wrong (the black blends so nicely with the pillars and better yet with darkened glass) - I think the shape is too stubby to be one colour I guess. Also I hate coloured arches and I think the car needs the black trim to balance the roof.

All that is IMO of course and nobody is right or wrong when it comes to colour.

The colours mentioned EB & DS were as stated exclusive too the S in the early days, the CR & IB were also available as ONEs & COOPERs

The EB, DS & CR were very popular colour's and IMO I think the DS was one of the most popular, but because of that popularity in the early days, this means that there are a lot about now in the used MINI sector, hence quite a bit of choice so prices have too be competitive, the rarer colour's IB BRG PW may / could be able to command a slightly higher price as they are a little more rarer (because everyone went for the other colour's) and if you want one in these colours you have to do a little more searching (to be that little bit more individual) , and may have to pay a little more .

IMO the MINIs can wear any colour and look good / cool etc... etc... Especially when they are clean, but some colours are a little rarer for a reason that they're "not everyones cup of tea" (for this reason the price can go the other way as not a lot of people want them / it ) as they say but as previously stated colour is a personal thing / choice.

Another thing with colour's in the car trade it can be an annual thing, by this I mean one year a manufacturer will bring out a colour put it on a popular model or the model will become popular because of the colour (as well as other things) and next thing you know everybody wants one or a car in that colour so all the other manufacturers follow, hence the next year every one wants too be different again looking for the new colour .

eg: about 1996-97 N-P reg there is a lot of purple cars about Corsa's, Fiesta's, Punto's etc... etc... A few years later it was a yellow thing Seat's, Rover's Fiat's etc... etc... and every colour comes back from time to time (just like fashion, music etc... etc... ) I think It's pure white at the moment (at one time if you had a pure white car it was an ex-POLICE car ).

Mine's the one on the left.
