Offline | should it be dripping? hi, i felt that the brakes on my S were feelign a bit weak, so i decided to opt for the gtt spiroslot package, discs + pads. went to get these fitted, and when the mechanic pumped the caliper with a tool, brake fluid spurted out. he therefore thought it was a faulty caliper. however, he did the same to the other side, and saw that the seals for the caliper were also wet. HOWEVER, the new discs/pads were tghen fitted, and the mechanics pumped the brakes through the pedal and it was fine, no leaks anywhere. ![]() therefore, is this a problem or is it considered normal, even the mechanic wasn't sure the reason i ask is because there was around 50% left on my old pads, yet they felt weak, and these new brakes dont feel that sharp (maybe because they aren't broken in yet).what to do!!? ![]() ![]() |

Offline | Personally I wouldn't trust a leak in my brakes anywhere. It's sort of like a wee rip in a parachute. I don't know if it's possible to cause a leak past the pistons by pushing them back badly, but it shouldn't happen that way and if it does I'd have to be worried that something was damaged. A mechanic who doesn't know that brakes don't leak at all, ever, is not a mechanic I'd use again, nor even one worthy of the name IMO. I have Spiroslots and they are much better than standard, but they are just grooved discs and different pads that have to perform well from cold just like the OE ones so there's a limit to what they can do.
