| MINI2 Regular | Fortunately, no Ugly unless you count all the dead bugs on the front Scenario - 3 hr plus road trip WA to Seaside, OR with wife and two boys (11 and 5) in the back and enough stuff for a weekend trip. Luggage was two small suitcases and two medium sized soft bags and enough Gameboy crap for 6 kids. The Good - Everything fit including the people. Cruised at basically 80MPH on the interstate and 65-70 on the minor highways with AC on. Did 32MPG! 347 mile round trip! Highway 30 in Oregon has got some good twisties on it! The S did a fine job and scooted us along without a hit complaining. Lots of looks and people with grins on their faces. Not many peole in that part of OR have even heard of the MINI.The Bad - 3hrs in a car and the boys will get nudgy and begin to fight. What is really bad is that they are so close to you in the MINI versus the Durango that they REALLY get on your nerves! The good part is that they are close enough to reach and smack and threaten and so forth.Suitcase wheels take up too much precious cargo space. Duffle bags would have been much better. A Z3 coupe came blowing by me on Highway 30 and I could not play because the wife gave me THE LOOK! She knew what I wanted to do even before I reached for the shifter. If your buns start to toast, it is because the wife has found the heat seats button and thinks it is funnier than snot to hit every once in a while. Also, I had to move the seat forward two notches to give me son room for his feet. Worst was the comment, is that a Hybrid from someone in Astoria, OR! Duh! NO! Must remember to be nice and smile! Overall - Great trip! I have had my MCS one month and 2000 wonderful miles. ![]() 02 RED/WHITE MCS and motoring since Sept 7, 2002 |

Offline | real bummer was trying to continously pass the slow Winnebagos, volvo's, subarus and Minivans on 101. Does everyone in Oregon go 50mph? Beauty of a drive; I came back that way on a 3050 mile trip home from the dealer. -DG |
