Offline | Cold Start problem Causes Me To Trade My "S" For A Chevy Cavalier!!! Yes...I traded my beloved "S" for a Chevy Cavalier at 4:30 this afternoon. I'll dump this shi**y loaner back in the same time tomorrow after my baby has had her cold start problem fixed (fingers crossed). I'll let you know how she's running. Also having the squeaky seats and tailgate addressed...the run flat warning malfunction looked at, etc. Ken Shapiro Electric Blue w/ Sport Package...first "S" delivered in Maryland (5/10/02) I've been everywhere but the electric chair...I've seen everything but the wind. |

Offline | You should be happy with the 'fix'. My MCS is an August 15 build and had the 'fix' done at the factory. It drives much different than the dealer test car I drove in April. So far there are NO signs of 'cold start' or low speed throttle response problems. It drives like a totally different car. It is SOOOOO much fun. Can't wait for the break-in to be over so I can start to use all the revs. ![]() Motor on, Dudes and Dudettes!!! '06 MCS SB/S '02 MCS DS/W (retired) |

Offline | haha. Being a cavalier owner I can totally understand the humour in that one!!!! When I first saw the thread I thought to myself that you might as well rip up your license and retreat to the arctic where you will no longer know what a car is. Holy Monkey! Offline | Ken, Is the Cavalier a loaner car from Towson? If so, I was wondering if I could borrow your MCS when I bring mine to Towson for service...I promise I won't change the seat position...really... |

Offline | LOL just about got me! I was about to post that if you trade your MINI for a Cavalier, it's not MINI who suffers, it's just you inflicting suffering on yourself ![]() |

Offline | Yeah..it's a Towson loaner becuase they screwed up and gave out the two Cooper loaners. Hey...the Cavalier has seats that do not squeak and none of the doors (four) rattle the way my third door does. Well, maybe it's fixed...I pick the car up in two hours. And no, you can not have my MCS, you can have my military green Cavalier. Besides, my MCS is MUCH smaller than your custom built one...remember? Offline | Well, just got "Hammer" back. Won't know whether the cold start "fix" works until tomorrow morning, so hang in there. They fixed the rattling hatch, did nothing about the squeaky seats, saying there'e no bulletin on what to do yet. The ECU upgrade doesn't seem to do anything for the overall power band or low end ummmph. Like I said, I'll write again after tomorrow morning's start up. Offline | I had the cold start/surge/stumble fix done yesterday (along with the won't-latch hatch and should-have-been-done-before-delivery light and lock programming). I didn't have a cold start problem, and hadn't realized I had a low-RPM hesitation, but did have a part-throttle surge between 2500-3500 rpm. After the fix, the surge is gone, and the car launches much more smoothly. Now, let's see if it starts . . . |

Offline | Did they fix hatch rattle? Ken, you mentioned that the dealer was going to look at your hatch/boot rattle problem. Did they fix that? What did they do? I had read previously that a parts kit and TSB was to be issued soon by MINI. ![]() '02 Cooper, BRG/white, Premium pkg., Sport pkg., chrome bumpers. |
