Offline | Same here...felt like she was good for a good bit more. Anybody figured out what she should be able to do w/o limiter? Ken Shapiro Electric Blue w/ Sport Package...first "S" delivered in Maryland (5/10/02) I've been everywhere but the electric chair...I've seen everything but the wind. |

Offline | 135mph on a public road is BAAAAAD. Your licence will be toast if they can catch you. I don't think there is a speed limiter on the S, I think it just runs out of speed. If you look at other cars of similar power their top speed is about the same give or take a few mph. German manufacturers do limit the speed on a lot of their more powerful cars to 155mph so don't see why they would limit the speed of the MINI to 135mph. Surely Here2help or MINIGuy will know for sure and since it was here2help that posed the question.....go on tell us. Even if the speed were limited 135 would be more than fast enough for me KenL Red/Black R56 Cooper |

Offline | 130MPH - and it didn't feel like it was going to go a whole lot faster, as every extra MPH was taking a long time to achieve. Car stil felt fairly stable, but not as god as it did at 110mph. On a derestricted German autobahn. Still not desparately safe, but legal. Doing it on a UK M-way is insane. Ordered my "S" August '01. Arrived July '02. EB with white roof, wheels and stripes, Chili pack, DSC and climate control. Hate those 17" runflats though. Can now be seen all over the West Midlands, as a blue blur passing everything at speed |

Offline | Nipped onto the nearest unlimited section of Autobahn in the demo S. 200 kmh (125mph?) and was still going strong but I slowed down due to traffic on the horizon. Not tried it in mine. I want to run it in properly. |

Offline | Germany is indeed the best place to check your top speed. I do it with every car I own. My CTR did 245 km/h with A/C on (153? mph) on the speedo, so that had to be 235/240 real kms. That time the car had run approx 4000 km only. Next time I'll try it without the A/C .![]() |

Offline | 138 mph on a quiet spot somewhere, the reading was from my hand held (tho not at that time) GPS, the actual speedo reading was pretty accurate @ around 132mph ![]() |

Offline | actual speed should malways be equal or lower than the speedo. I think there are laws about the calivbration of speedos. I would be inclinde to believe the speedo reading rather than the GSP |

Offline | Top Speed I have a Garmin GPS , and that records top speeds etc, I question the accuracy of any speedo , and against a variety of sports motorcycles I've found a discrepancy of +/- 6 %, I run a couple of m/c , one in is a "breathed" on Suzuki Hayabusa and in standard form is supposed to reach 200mph, my Garmin had it at 189mph, flat out , on the straight at Catalunya Circuit in Spain. After some engine work , and a couple of months later, 210mph on the Speedo, but 201mph on the Garmin GPS , again at Catalunya , similar temperature and conditions. Generally speedo inaccuarcy is greater at the top end of the reading , than in the mid range. I'll run the MCS with the Garmin and report. ![]() Cooper S,200Bhp+ Graham Goode Racing/Superchip Conversion, MagnaFlow Exhaust,British Racing Green,White Roof,Chilli Pack ,Gravity Full Leather, 17" S Spoke Alloys,Multi-Function Strg Wheel,Elec.
