Question for electric blue owners

So I am ready to place my order for my MCS this weekend, and I think that I want eb/w. But what i want to know is how does the electric blue hide dirt? I have a black car now (miata) and while the black MCS looks fantastic, I would never get a black car again. If the electric blue shows too much dirt, I will go with dark silver, thats sure to hide dirt. Are you happy with the EB? Is there another color you wish you got? -thanks

sticking it to the man since 1973.

I ws going to order the DS, but took an early factory spec EB instead. VERY glad I did. It shows almost no dirt. I could go a long time w/o washing except the wheels get so dirty. I actually wash the car because the wheels look bad. Also, there are a gazillion silver cars here in America...very few electric blue ones...definitely stands out more. It's more noticeable in fog, early evening, etc. Also, IMO, EB looks great in all light...DS looks bland on cloudy days. I had a silver Miata that stayed very clean looking, but this car beats it.

My last car was black, and never again!

Our MCS is EB/White, and we really like it, modest dust/dirt does not show. On the other hand, I can tell when I need to wash to car, which I actually think is good, so that dust and contaminants are not in contact with the surface for a long time.

Still, if you really want a car not to show dirt at all, get a color closest to the dirt in question. :-)

my last car was metallic black and this is definitely a colour I would never have again. It showed up dirt much more than the E/B colour of my cooper S. which to be honest is difficult to tell is dirty until I wash it.
The worst part of the MINI that gets dirty very quickly is the rear window. It seems to have a magnetic effect for dirt.
don't be put off the E/B. Nearly every one who admires the car says what a great colour the car is.

Thumbs up

Electric Blue and Black Roof here. I thought about the White roof but it didn't look aggressive enough for me. The white roof looks to plain. The blue hides dirt great. And with the black roof it sets it off like no other. Trust me.

Talking

Four months and 6,000 miles in and the EB/W combo shows almost no dirt at all, I'm well impressed.. in fact at the mo since it's been neglected on the wash front for almost three weeks of mega miles (HORROR!) I have just noticed that the rear number plate is almost unreadable - but the rest of the car looks cool as ever. Only the wheels get a bit grizzly from over-zealous use of the "chicken-pedal" (I've just started switching the DSC out - most entertaining it is too, makes up for the F355 going into hibernation until the spring). With the white bonnet stripes the EB/W combo has created more impression than any car I have ever owned - even the yellow Fezza - everybody absolutely adores the MCS. You can't go far wrong there fella!

1 Mini Cooper S (Electric Blue/White)
1 Ferrari F355 GTS (Giallo Modena)
1 BMW 320i Touring (Red)
1 Skoda Favorit rally spec (Red)

Every home should have one of each.

I am very satisfied with the EB and would not trade it for any other color. It looks good in all lighting conditions and is certainly more visible than the DS. As you will soon discover, the mini (old and new) attracts dirt to the rear, this is a common trait for hatchback vehicles and is something we all live with. The EB seems to look good even when it is dirty. Deciding on my MINI color was the hardest part of ordering the car. I now have 5K on it and I'm convinced that I chose the right color.

I never really liked EB when I first saw it in the flesh. But it's one of those colours that have really grown on me. Very striking colour, which is what the Mini is all about.

Get my thumbs up too although the inevitable fingermarks through the dirt on the tailgate tell you that it is time to wash the car and the wheels (are 17 inch wheels easier to clean - not if you brake like I do I guess). However you will want to keep it spick and span anyway as a clean MINI is a sigh for sore eyes.

EB/W is definitely the way to go!

You will get so many compliments and as far as I can tell there is not another manufacturer producing any color like it, especially if you go for the white roof.

I have a silver S2000 with the red interior and my EB/W "S" gets the same amount of attention if not more.

The only thing concerning cleanliness, as others have mentioned, is the back of the car. Because the overhang is so short it shoots everything onto the window and the back of the car. Just wax the S___ out of it and it will help to keep things from getting ugly back there over time.

Hope this helps!

All of a sudden I feel all superior and mean. *gah* It is cool though. Especially for me. I only have about 40 posts and had the 'baby' ranking.

Very nice guys!! Push me over the edge now- I'm teetering!

I ordered DS/b, went to JB/b, to BRG/w, to JB/w, to IB/b/w, to .... god only knows.

Soooo, like I said - throw just a few more pics up and I shall say to heck with it and go with EB. I'm getting a sunroof BTW. What looks better white or black roof? I have a 45% tint planned and aftermarket graphics.

Will there be like a thousand EB minis running around? A little bit of 'difference' would be nice. (black/white or all black is definitely in the minority!)

Here is a photo of my EB/EB filthy and covered in dirt. as you can see the light color of the car hides dust on a sunny day. also the color seems to change with the time of day. the car looks great at night when the eb looks "deeper".

You all gave me a very important reason to go for the EB: dirt. I have a black car now, and never will have black again. If the EB really looks cleaner that long, it's my choice.
Not sure if it will have the white or the black roof. My mind is set on a black roof (for the moment)

Gotta be EB/W for me - I love the colour and so does everyone who talks to me about the car - it stands out soooo much. And no you cannot tell when it's dirty - bar the odd finger print on the paintwork. In essence it captures the fun image that the mini always had - in the 60's the colours were very progressive for the time - such as the Island blue with white roof - or Almond Green with white roof like my 63 'S'. Did have a tartan red and black roof as well which looked fab - but not as nice as the works replica Snowberry White roof - so it's gotta be a white roof for me from a nostalgic viewpoint !

EB white everytime...Although I didn't clean mine for about 3 weeks and it was EB/grey...some nice person drew a line with their finger down the bonnet stripe just to prove the point..

The EB looks stunning whatever the weather and however dirty the car is..

With the sunroof you have to know what you want it to look like. The white roof frames the sunroof like a picture frame, looks good to me.
With the black roof the sunroof blends in, looks good to me too.
Not much help but you do need to know what you prefer, framed or blended.
With the dark tint do you want the roof lines to blur into the window,A ,B and C pillars.? To me it would look like a big black hat on the car. Bad guys wear black hats
White roof would give you nice contrast between these visual points. What do you want?
To me both would look good......How's that for decisive assistance?

Why not have both?

This is the factory checkering, but if you have the sunroof, CarVogue has the same, but with perforations to let the light through.

I've seen their work on MINIMENC's car (he has the Union Jack on his BRG/W), and it's very nice.
