Supercharger whine gone?

Has anyone noticed that the supercharger whine is quieter or gone?

I have 2200 miles on my MCS and I don't hear it any more. The Mini service guy told me that as the supercharger gets broken in, the noise gets quieter. Do you agree?

Thanks.

funny you should bring this up - I was thinking the other day I wasn't noticing it as much and assumed a) the weather's wetter so DSC gets in the way or b) I've just got used to it.

maybe it is just broken in - which would be a shame.

My MCS has 5000 miles on it and have found that if you wish to bring back the whine, install a CAI kit....more power and more whine.....and the whine and power can be increased further by drilling several 1 inch holes in the baffle plate between the air box and the vent chamber just in front of the windshield.

how much more power does the CAI give? or is it basically more or less just for sound and looks?

I have 4000 miles and still hear it quite well if I put my boot down and the stereo is off. Otherwise its totally unobstrusive for normal driving.

Yeah, I have to really floor it to hear the supercharger now.

Ordered my "S" August '01. Arrived July '02. EB with white roof, wheels and stripes, Chili pack, DSC and climate control. Hate those 17" runflats though.

Can now be seen all over the West Midlands, as a blue blur passing everything at speed

No problem with wine here. What I'm enjoying is the exhaust burble when closing the throttle down.

I have 10k miles and the Rogue Engineering CAI. The supercharger whine is great. I will be returning the car to stock for its 10k service and will see what that does for sound and power.

Now snapper-

is that a factory intake in that photo?

Or have I got a new want?

Wines gone quieter. I miss it. But not tremendously. 5600 miles.

That looks like the BMP intake. I haven't noticed any drop in whine at just under 5000 miles, but i haven't compared it to a new MCS either to compare the sounds.

Whatever.

Not the whine I expected. My brothers Vortech equipped Mustang Cobra has a whine. Sounds horrible at idle, but once it spools up, sounds great. MCS very little whine, but the exhaust note makes up for it.
