Offline | I've lurked on this forum for over a year. I've wanted a Cooper S of my own since it was announced. I was way down the list for any new MCS that came in to Rasmussen in Portland, OR, USA. Apparently a loaded BRG/B (but w/o leather) came in and the gent who ordered it didn't want it after all. I was one of the lucky few (having asked for about the same thing) who got called and the first to call back and say "Yes, please!!!!" Then my sensible wife pointed out a few reasons not to get the car yet. So without marital consensus I had to call back and decline. I am very sad, even mopey, and am wondering how many of you have had to say "no thanks," but who have since bought their Mini after all. Tell me I'll get the car eventually. Point me to galleries of BRG/B MCS (though I've probaly got them all bookmarked ![]() |

Offline | Had a similar situation at LB MINI. They called me up since they had one VERY close in spec to what I wanted that someone didn't buy. After much internal debate, I passed on it b/c it had a couple of paint and finish defects...didn't want to drive home a new car already knowing there are already flaws that need fixing (and having to depend on the assurances that the local MINI rep will authorize those fixes later). Also it had the alloy patina interior instead of Anthracite. Combining those two things, I decided to pass even though I lost the benefit of being able to trade-in my car. The biggest difference is that I was fortunate enough to have the luxury of already having my MCS ordered and arriving relatively soon anyway (as a matter of fact, it should be safely on U.S. soil on Monday). It p.o.'ed me for awhile that I almost got early gratification (especially since I took a day off of work to go to the dealership, which is 100 miles away). Although after a few days I had no regrets. However, if I fly out to pick up my MCS in a couple of weeks and it also has some sort of problems when I get there, I'll be p.o.'ed to the n-th power. ![]() |

| MINI2 Regular | Sorry to hear you had to pass. I love my BRG/B. It is two weeks old and I still run to the garage to look at it. It was not ment to be this time, but your time will come. It also to me six months to get my wife on my side. My 2000 BMW 328 CI is now gone and I have no regrets. As far as gallaries, I have a few pictues in mine. By Thursday I will have my aero kit on, so there should be a few more soon. Good Luck, |

| My dad taught me something important about buying cars. When your wife objects, tell here that you are having a mid life crisis and that you can either get a new car, or a younger wife. -Andrew |

Offline | You did the right thing! You didn't rush into something because of a phone call. I totally sympathise with you. I have had to tell myself the "No Thanks, you have to wait". I was all ready to just order my MINI and trade in my car and not care if I'm all upside down on my lease. I was about to make a big mistake. Then my dishwasher broke, ruined my floor, and I spent allot of money replacing both. I had to sit down and tell myself I have to wait to order my car when my lease is almost up! It is going to be hard to wait but I have to do it. I can't upset my whole household to get my next car 10 months early. I have to wait until July and then place my order. and Andrew - Your Dad is great! Is it their generation? When my Dad said he wanted a sports car, my Mom hated the idea but didn't tell him. She ran him all over town test driving them. He even test drove a motorcycle. When she had him totally convinced he could get any vehicle he wanted, he chose a huge Chevy truck as what he really wanted! She was so happy! and then she admitted to everyone how much she didn't want him in a sports car!! "Mr Bridger" |
