Offline | Tlc Hello everyone, I'm new to this site, still undecided what spec to go for on my new MCS! Got most of it but want to know the following: TLC, does that mean you don't have to pay for any car services for 5 years? So once the service interval is up then you just take your car to nearest BMW dealer and they will do the required service and you don't to pay anything? Please correct me if I'm wrong! Cheers |

Offline | Correct - however you have to be a little careful because some parts (e.g. Brake Pads) are not covered by the TLC package. Labour, oil and general fluids are all in there though. MINI Going.....Toyota Supra RZ-S Twin Turbo Coming....Standing Quarter, anyone....? |

Offline | TLC is your first 3 services (the interval is variable but it will be a total of approx 50K miles) I think the "5 Years" is just based on an average of 10K a year - they certainly won't perform every service for 5 years regardless of mileage. It's not how fast you go that matters BUT how you go fast. |

Offline | You get three services and one brake fluid change (after 2 years - fixed) with TLC. My car had it's first service at 9000 miles. The computer is predicting the next one at 24000 and the final one should be ~39k. Although TLC is fantastic value for money it's a bit misleading to say it covers servicing for up to 50k miles/5 years whichever comes first. I can't see how anyone could get upto 50k miles before the third service. You don't get a second brake fluid change at 4 years or the engine coolant replaced after 4 either. I still delighted though as an oil change service on it's own is probably about £90 ![]() Red/Black R56 Cooper |

Offline | Depends how you drive... KenL - I got 12,000 miles in before my first service, so it really can make a big difference how sympathetically you drive the thing! I'm guessing that the average service intervals that BMW are working on for their 50,000 mile figure are: 10,000 - 30,000 - 50,000 |

Offline | When I got my car back after it's first service when I first switched it on it was predicting 15500 miles to the next service. PeterG - how do you drive your car to get such a long mileage to your first service? Do you always keep below 3000rpm and only drive on motorways or something? What is your car predicting the mileage your second service will be at? Cheers, KenL Red/Black R56 Cooper |

Offline | I certainly don't drive it like a granny or anything, I just avoid red-lining it too often - usually I change up at about 5000 revs. Also, I do relatively few of the kind of short runs that are supposed to be bad news for a car. My commute is over 20 miles each way, so the engine always gets a good workout. It's going in for the first service tomorrow, so I'll let you know what it predicts for the second when I get it back. It would be nice to know how the computer does it's sums so we at least know what we should be doing to extend the life of the TLC. |

Offline | Adding my vote for TLC I agree with the other posters - it's not as good as it sounds (and I only found out the detail after I'd paid - my fault, I know) but it is still much, much cheaper than paying for the "services" individually. My MINI dealer said she hadn't sold a single MINI so far without it. There is no logic at all in not getting TLC. This is the self-preservation society |

Offline | Re: 2nd Service Excellent. Looks like you'll get close to the 50000 mark with your TLC. Make sure you post in two years tine to let everyone know I'm showing about 24500 at second service - pretty good really. My last car had fixed servicing every 9k miles. Red/Black R56 Cooper |
