expansion joints w/ 16 inch

Hi everyone,

I'm sure this has been discussed before, but since I've speced out my S with the 16" X-lites, I just wanted to see a more directed opinion.

What has been your experience with highway expansion joints, and highway noise when driving the Cooper S with the 16" X-lites.... I have a friend who just got his S with the 17" and said he almost had to pull over because of the "tram-lining".... I've also heard the noise is a bit much over a 4 or 5 hour drive....

Thanks,
Jay

Hi,

This has been discussed a lot on here in the past (which may be why there's been a slow respsonse).

From my own experience, and that of several others, the 17's tramline a lot more than the 16's, and I find also generate SLIGHTLY more road noise, but I would imagine that's as much to the with the tyres as the wheels themselves.

Thanks Paul and obehave,

I had read many many posts on this before, the problem was that people would just pop into the board and say "it was really harsh man", and not even say what tire/wheel combo they had....

Thanks guys,
Jay
