Offline | Actually Got 35 MPG Today With A MCS ! And we're not talking about using that funky computer (don't have one onboard). I used a pen and paper for this one. Prior to this I've never beaten 30 MPG. I almost always get somewhere 23.5 and 25 MPG. Anyway, today I went to Imports at Carlisle (PA). Only saw one other MINI there, a silk green/black Cooper. I got there, 90 miles away, in 70 minutes...a VERY quick trip up. I decided to do the speed limit on the way back and treat the throttle like there was an egg on the pedal. I never went above about 2,800 RPM, and got an honest 35 MPG. Never thought that was possible. Ken Shapiro Electric Blue w/ Sport Package...first "S" delivered in Maryland (5/10/02) I've been everywhere but the electric chair...I've seen everything but the wind. |

Offline | Was it mostly down hill... with no traffic.... and a tail wind? just kidding, but man thats impressive! I argee with obehave, restraint like that should be rewarded. My right foot shows restrain but only when the engine is turned off. ![]() Trust not the heart of a man for whom old clothes, and the Mini, are not venerable! |

Offline | After averaging 23-24 mpg for my first 10 tank fulls (November 2002 delivery), for mostly urban rush hour driving and some freeway, I've been averaging 26 mpg on my last 10 tank fulls. Mileage does seem to improve as the engine loosens up--which apparently continues beyond the 1200 mile mark. I haven't taken any true cross country trips. 35 mpg is really impressive, though. 2003 MINI Cooper S (daily driver) 2004 Corvette ZO6 (replacement for my beloved Supra) |

Offline | The only way I would get 35mpg out of my 'S' is if it did half the journey on the back of a breakdown truck.... Usually get about 28mpg on my daily commute, but thats down to the weight of rush hour traffic in the UK... |

Offline | I have had my Red/Red MCS since sept., almost 10k miles. I have averaged between 27-32 per gallon with very few exceptions. I did a road trip to gulf shores and got 34.5 down and 33.5 back, on the low side I have done as little as low 20's if I "let the dog eat". I autox some and the milage goes way down those weeks. But hey, if your buying the MCS for fuel milage you should have purchased the mini instead not the supercharged version. Just my thought. |

Offline | I live in Kansas and I maintained a consistent 38.1 to 37.6 on a 30 mile trip last week, but that was using the computer and not pen and paper, and never going above 2500 rpm I got the range up over 450 miles but I can never keep my foot out of it for more than a quarter of a tank ....the supercharger is too much fun |

Offline | rocketsredglare, with 4000 miles, yes mileage is still improving. Everything (including suspension) is still smoothing out also. Engine needed almost a quart of oil at 1400 miles, but none since then... '03 MCS, black / black, 16" Wheels |

Offline | Ken, you're not driving it the way you're supposed to. A little work and you'll be able to get it under 20mpg... (smiley face guy goes here) Doug '03 MCS, black / black, 16" Wheels |

![]() Taller Than You! | The S for motorway cruising can actually be pretty economical for a sporty car. My journey to work isn't to far away about 12 miles (90% motorway). If i stick it in cruise control at about 60-65mph I save sooo much fuel. I've actually got 400 miles out of a tank of Optimax once, but it was painful ![]() |

Offline | I constantly get 35-38MPG sometimes 40, Cruise on, 60-70MPH all moterway. 380-400 miles to a tank. Above 70 MPG drops dramatically due to the wind restistance increasing with the square of the speed. |
