You could be right Bruce, but I have the above spec in writing (with no disclaimer) on which I based my deposit. So either way my S will have the foglights and they won't cost me a cent.

Thanks for that. All the official BMW photo's I've seen so far have shown the stripes like OnlyS4me's photo. I agree the vee shape you describe is not how the original Mini's had them.

Obviously they don't meet in the middle or even get anywhere near each other, but they definately form a slight V shape and I think his car looked better without the stripes, if they were straight it would be a different story.

I think I know what your saying. Certainly the classic Mini had the bonnet opening lines to follow. thats a bit harder with the MINI.

Not sure whether I'll go down this path, but I do like them on that photoshop job done by OnlyS4me.... Like to see them in the flesh.

Unless I've misunderstood (Quite possible!), the on-board computer option needs to occupy the big hole in the dash normally occupied by the speedo (or revcounter in Aus), meaning the speedo (or revcounter) migrates to the steering columnn this case

...I'd be happy with that 'cos I get the revcounter back where it belongs! (Aus is unique in displacing default steering wheel-mounted revcounter with speedo)

Rich, I believe the on-board-computer option is more along the lines of temp, compass, time and such. This is part of the rev counter or overhead by the mirror, not certain which. The center pod would be lost to the GPS/NAV system. As I understand things.

Yes, Mike is right - only the (very expensive) Sat Nav system displaces the central speedometer (central tach for Oz models ).

Note how the stripes on the "S" in this picture differ to the ones on the One and Cooper. The top of the strips start about half way across the vents below the windscreen. The one's I've seen on the Cooper start with their edges on the outside line of the vents. This should straighten them up a bit, and in my opinion be an improvement.

Strips for me I think.

Spoke to my dealer again today and amongst other things raised the "integrated fog-lights" issue.

He confirmed that oz-spec cars will have the fog-lights factory fitted as standard fair.

Chrome bumper trim was an error.

...

You're beating the US-spec on that one.

I guess that helps make up for the very unfortunate placement of the tach and speedo on the Oz cars.

Bruce, be objective about it. I know it was a design icon from the classic mini,I used to have one too. Unless your on a race circuit you won't be spending every few seconds watching the rev counter for gear changes. After a very short time, you'll drive the car by feel. At least we still get a Nice big round dial in the center of the car. I asked my dealer today whether there was any option other than the sat/nav one that could fill that space and therefore put "both" dials above the steering column. Sadly there isn't, and I wasn't the first person to ask.

Stripes

I thought I've read somewhere that there where only three Cooper S-ses on the show, but apart from the Dark Silver, Chili Red and Liquid Yellow, there appears to be a Black S too. I must say, on a Black S the stripes look ok, along with the white roof , mirrors and wheels.

yeh I agree..ok is about as far as I would go

OnlyS4me have you decided on your colour yet?

As you have the advantage of seeing them in the flesh, what was your opinion of the EB and Grey?

I still like the EB from the photos, but the Grey looks very cool

Colour

As you will know my first favourite colour was Cosmos Black, but that no option. So I'd decided to go for EB. When I came to Essen I've made a totally 180, cause the Dark Silver is so much better for the car (I.M.O).
It's less a toy, more mean and much more classy. And in combo with the S-spoke alloys, it's a dream car for me!

So it's Dark Silver, White roof/mirrors, 17 inch S-spoke and blue/black interior (or the cognac-reddish/black combo, don't know the name for that, like in the new M3, if it comes available)

Cognac-reddish interior? Is that the same as the 1/2 leather- 1/2 cloth combo?

Waiting, officially, since July 12, 2001.

Not at all. I've seen the colour in a Carbon Black M3 cabrio. I'll try to figure out what the real name for the colour is. This colour is also offered in the TT cabrio. It's a kind of brown/red like colour.
