Ok, I've lurked long enough. After reading these boards over and over, taking numerous test drives, and configuring and reconfiguring (ad nauseum) I finally did it and ordered an MCS.

Chili Red, White Roof, Bonnet Stripes, and Wheels.
Cold Weather Package
Xenon Headlights
Harman/Kardon Sound System
Grey Space Cloth
Antracite Trim

The estimated Production Date is on the 4th of July. I guess I'll be obligated to put the stars and strips somewhere now. Maybe I'll spend the time waiting trying to figure that one out.

Thanks to everyone on the board for indirectly influencing my decision with all the information you've posted. It's been an invaluable resource.

.. but I gotta say how come you've got a build date in July when you've only just ordered it. I was being told 3 weeks ago I had to finalise my order precisely or the build date of mid-July would slip. I ordered it back in February. There seems to be an incredible variance in "lead times" for the Mini - anybody know why?

Welcome to MINI2.. nice spec you've got there....

Regarding the waiting, it varies wildly from dealer to dealer, and country to country.

It does indeed vary. I was shocked to find that my dealer had a spot open so soon. I was expecting at least 4 months if not more. That's partly the reason I ordered when I did. Had I waited too much longer the production date would have been either very late July or middle of August.
