Question Heated mirrors

My MCS is fitted with heated mirrors. The only thing is that they seem to be on all the time.

Its been 21 degrees C today, and guess what.....the mirrors are hot?? Why? To evaporate the rain of an English summer??!!

Took it to the dealer and they say that there's nothing wrong and they are on all the time as per the detail in the handbook!

Has anyone noticed that their mirrors are on all the time? or am I being BS'd by the dealer?

Hell I might be losing some valuable BHP as energy diverted into powering my mirrors, and not the engine!

Your mirrors are working correctly - they are heated whenever the car is running.

Hopefully they get hot enough to fry all the spiders that keep crawling into my mirrors to build webs

Agreed, as the others have already said, it's normal.

Strange as it may seem.

Yeah, they are on all the time.

I don't think the electrical demand of the mirror heaters is going to cause any significant or even noticeable power drain.

Now what causes a power drain is that electric power steering pump! Turn the steering wheel while the car is stopped and watch all the lights dim and the engine rpm drop as it struggles to turn the alternator due to the electrical demand imposed by the pump.
